NEW JERSEY GENERAL ASSEMBLY October 12, 2018 Honorable Philip D. Murphy Governor of the State of New Jersey 225 West State Stree NEW JERSEY GENERAL ASSEMBLY STATE HOUSE PO BOX 098 TRENTON, NEW JERSEY 08625-0098 (609) 847-3400 October 12, 2018 Honorable Philip D. Murphy Governor of the State of New Jersey 225 West State Street Trenton, NJ 08608 Dear Governor Murphy, Reports have made clear that immediately after alleged criminal sexual misconduct was committed by one of your staffers, the victim - a volunteer on your campaign - contacted the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office to submit her allegations. Those circumstances alone would lead most people in this political environment to believe that her allegations have merit, but there is a void of information provided by your administration. A volunteer on your campaign had the courage and conviction to make her circumstances known, and she was greeted with a disappointing lack of action. It seems that there is a bias of what is acceptable and what is not. Your reluctance to offer “more color” on the matter, and undertake a thorough investigation into the alleged misconduct, leaves more questions each and every day that your administration fails to provide answers. The longer information is not provided by your administration, the more disturbing this situation has become. Political inconvenience cannot be weighted more heavily than integrity. Sexual violence is not a partisan issue, and the public officials of our state have affirmed that time and again. We expect more of our governor, and remain hopeful that a complete legislative investigation finds the truth. In anticipation, we implore you to answer these questions: 1. Did the victim directly report to Alvarez on the campaign? 2. When was your campaign staff made aware of the allegations? 3. When was the Governor’s Office staff made aware? 4. Did the allegations occur during work hours, or on campaign premises? 5. When the allegations became known did the victim’s volunteer role change? 6. What was the environment of your campaign before and after the allegations? 7. What did the campaign memo circulated regarding the allegations entail? 8. Were you made aware of either allegation? If so, when? 9. What was your initial response to the allegations? 10. What did you, or your staff, do after becoming aware of the allegations? 11. Why didn’t the allegations raise any red flags with the administration? 12. Why did you think it was appropriate to allow Alvarez to remain on the campaign, and continue to work on your transition team and in your administration? 13. When was law enforcement notified? If so, did law enforcement investigate? 14. What is the extent of the relationship between Alvarez and the Hudson County Prosecutor? 15. How in-depth was the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office investigation? 16. How many people were interviewed by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office? 17. Why did the prosecutor decide to not press charges? 18. Did you implement any interim protective measures? 19. Did your staff investigate the allegation internally? 20. Why did it take so long for your staff to respond? 21. Was there an informal resolution? 22. Were any sanctions imposed? This matter deserves full attention, and these questions are hopefully just the beginning of a thorough and forthright investigation. Sincerely, Jon Bramnick Anthony M. • Sent a Letter to Gov. Phil Murphy and Muoio
NEW JERSEY GENERAL ASSEMBLY STATE HOUSE PO BOX 098 TRENTON, NEW JERSEY 08625-0098 (609) 847-3400 June 9, 2021 The Honorable Phil Murphy Office of the Governor P.O. Box 001 Trenton, NJ 08625 The Honorable Elizabeth Maher Muoio Department of the Treasury P.O. Box 002 Trenton, NJ 08625 Dear Governor Murphy and Treasurer Muoio: We cannot fathom what you are trying to hide by refusing your traditional responsibility to provide revenue updates to the Assembly Budget Committee. If it was the decision of our colleagues in the legislature, please do not demur. There are only two possibilities that come to mind: that your administration is woefully unprepared to explain how you plan to spend the newly expected money and the more than $6 billion in federal aid, or your disdain for transparency and the legislative process satiates your hunger for unilateral power. It will not be surprising when, in routine business, the budget is introduced and signed into law before anyone can carefully read it. In this consistent lack of transparency, it is clear you and your party are content. Due to your unprecedented decision, we are submitting the below questions regarding the fiscal year 2022 budget, and ask for a response within twenty-four hours that actually answers the questions. That is ample time considering these questions would have been asked directly. Please recall that Republican districts comprise over three-million state residents. Do not continue to disenfranchise them by ignoring their representatives. Questions: 1. Why were the Assembly Budget Committee hearings, scheduled on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, cancelled? 2.

Our scorecard rates each member of the New Jersey Senate and Assembly on their conservation record and actions taken to protect the environment in the Garden State. It does this by tracking how New Jersey’s 40 senators and 80 Assembly members voted on key legislation affecting air and water quality, open space, and the fight against climate change. As “the political voice for the environment,” New Jersey LCV uses its resources to elect environmental champions and support them in office while helping to defeat candidates and officeholders whose legislative priorities do not include air, water, and land protections. We empower legislators by providing background information before key environmental votes, and we hold legislators accountable for their positions and actions related to our environment.

  • Introduction Lobbying and Advocacy
Introduction This Legislative Handbook is designed to provide guidance and assistance to representatives of the New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies, Inc. (NJAMHAA) member organizations who participate in legislative activities. Specifically, the Legislative Handbook presents the Association’s legislative policy and procedures, simplifies the complexities of the legislative process, and provides an orientation to grassroots lobbying for all members. On behalf of its members, NJAMHAA meets with legislators, policy makers and business leaders in order to influence legislative, regulatory and funding decisions in ways that have the most positive outcome on its members. Through increased visibility and a stronger presence, NJAMHAA ensures that members’ concerns are expressed and that their interests are represented. This allows members the peace of mind of knowing that legislative or regulatory changes that are made will occur with their views expressed. NJAMHAA is committed to facilitating meaningful exchange both within the Association and with other industry stakeholders to achieve mutual advocacy. While NJAMHAA aggressively lobbies state and federal legislators on behalf of its members, these lawmakers need to hear from you, their local constituents, those who elect them. The louder and stronger the voice, the more impact that it has on all who hear it. Please use and refer back to this valuable resource to familiarize yourself with legislative advocacy procedures and to contact key legislators to collectively join other NJAMHAA members in advancing the cause for an improved community behavioral health system. Lobbying and Advocacy Oftentimes, the words “lobbying” and “advocacy” are used interchangeably. The legal definition of lobbying usually involves attempting to influence legislation.

  • Jefferson Van Drew
DECEMBER 2019 GLOBE 2019 YEAR IN REVIEW NONE OF THE ABOVE WINNER OF THE YEAR BRITTANY O’NEILL OPERATIVE OF THE YEAR DONALD TRUMP’S : NEW BEST FRIEND JEFFERSON VAN DREW 2019: YEAR IN REVIEW | 1 2019: YEAR IN REVIEW | 2 NEW JERSEY GLOBE POWER LIST 2019 That removes one typically automatic Sweeney vote from the Senate Democrats, unless the senate president can convert Mike Testa into a Sweeneycan. There were also two prominent party switchers: freshman Rep. Jeff Van Drew became a Republican, and State Sen. Dawn Addiego is now a Democrat. In the year of the unlikely voter, just 27% of New Jersey voters cast their ballots in 2019 – a number that was up 5% over 2015 thanks to the state’s new vote-by-mail law that caused the participation of many New Jerseyans who would never have voted if ballots didn’t show up at their homes. A 5% increase was significant. Off-off year elections like 2019 when State Assembly candidates head the ticket happens twice every other decade, so New Jersey won’t see another one until 2035. The race for Democratic State Chairman ended in a draw – John Currie keeps the job for eighteen months, when LeRoy Jones takes over. Legislative reapportionment, which was the entire reason for the state chairman battle, gives an edge to the anti-Murphy faction – if that’s where Jones is when the new districts are drawn. Murphy continues to struggle to win the approval of New Jersey voters, yet he appears – at least right now – to have a lock on the Democratic nomination when he seeks re-election in 2021.
