OPEN AUDITIONS Ages 10– Adult Auditions: Monday, October 26th 6:00-8:30pm and Tuesday, October 27th 6:00 – 8:30pm Callbacks: Wednesday, October 28th 6:30 – 8:30pm At the Forever After Rehearsal Studio at the PARC 650 Church Street, Suite 107 Plymouth, MI 48170 You MUST BE between the age of 10– Adult on October 26th 2020 to be cast in this production. The Audition Process 1. Read through this packet COMPLETELY. 2. Prepare 16 bars of a pop song and bring the sheet music or karaoke track to auditions or plan to sing A cappella (Songs from the show are acceptable.) 3. Pick ONE audition day. It does not benefit auditionees to attend both nights of auditions. 4. Enter the Forever After Rehearsal Studio and register at the counter. 5. Arrive between the set auditions times and expect to stay for at least an hour. 6. There is a $5 audition fee and can be paid in cash or a check payable to Forever After Productions. 7. Hand in your completed Audition Form and headshot. 8. Auditionees only are allowed in the audition room. 9. Auditionees needed to sing for specific character roles, to be seen again will be asked to return Wednesday, October 28th for Call Backs at our Rehearsal Studio. DO NOT CONTACT Forever After Productions regarding Call Backs. DO check your email and iheartforeverafter.com on October 27th after 10pm. Receiving a Call Back does not guarantee a part in the show, nor does not being Called Back mean a casting rejection. 10. The Cast List will be sent out via email on Thursday, October 29th by 10am and will also posted at www.iheartforeverafter.com 11. The time for Orientation for the Cast will be released with the cast list. Participation Requirements PARENTS & PARTICIPANTS: BY AUDITIONING, YOU AGREE TO THESE CONDITIONS • Those given a role in this production agree to take the part (or notify us immediately if they decline). As well as attend EVERY DRESS REHEARSAL and PERFORMANCE. Exceptions are granted in rare circumstances. • Performers may not be permitted to perform in sections of the show if they miss rehearsal for those sections. If you may miss multiple rehearsals you are strongly encouraged not to audition. • Forever After will provide specialty costumes for this show. A fee of $30 will be charged for these cosgtumes. • Young Performers: This production is done to enhance a regular education. Therefore, performers under the age of 18 are expected to keep up their grades. If you don’t think your child can handle schoolwork and production work please do not have them audition. • Young Performers: You understand that supervision will not be provided for your child any earlier than the beginning of the rehearsal and no later than fifteen minutes after rehearsal. You must sign in and sign out your child at every rehearsal and performance they attend (if they are under 14). • Those who are given a script are expected to bring their script with them to every rehearsal and will have to give a $25 script deposit at the beginning of the rehearsal process. Everyone who returns their script at the end of the production will get their script deposit back (new scripts are $25). • All cast members will be expected to pay Forever After Productions your actor participation fee of $210 at cast orientation via check or cash. A $30 Costume Fee will also be charged. You must notify Forever After Productions on or before November 1st, 2020 if you choose to withdraw without obligation. • Every cast member or family is REQUIRED to contribute at least 10 hours of volunteer time not including at least 2 hours of volunteer during load-in (our first day moving into the theater). We will need help during the Pre-Production Weeks (the weeks leading up to the show and Production Week (The week of the show) with things such as set building, costuming, publicity and much more. No experience is necessary when coming to help. This is a learning experience for everyone! • Every cast member or family is REQUIRED to contribute at least 2 hours during strike after the last show (this is not a part of the 10 hours of volunteer during Pre- Production Week and Production Week) Two Deposits of $100 will be held to ensure all hours are met. Schedule Overview Rehearsals may be held on Tuesday’s, Thursday’s, Sunday’s and occasional Wednesday’s. Rehearsals will begin The week after audtions. If you have a regular conflict on any of these days, please indicate it on the Audition Form. NOTE: all performers will not be called to every rehearsal. Dress Rehearsals and Performances PERFORMERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND EVERY DRESS REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE. DO NOT AUDITION if you are unable to attend every dress rehearsal and performance. Dress Rehearsals are Sunday, January 31st - Wednesday, February 3rd in the evening. We anticipate rehearsals running until about 10:00pm. Cast members will be required to arrive at least 1.5 hours pre-show for every performance. Performances for Tarzan will be: Thursday, February 4th at 7:00pm Friday, February 5th at 7:00pm Saturday, February 6th at 2:00pm and 7:00pm Sunday, February 7th at 1:00pm and 5pm Tickets will be $12 About The Production Based on Disney's epic animated musical adventure and Edgar Rice Burrough's Tarzan of the Apes, Tarzan features heart-pumping music by rock legend, Phil Collins, and a book by Tony Award-winning playwright, David Henry Hwang. High- flying excitement and hits, like the Academy Award winning "You'll Be in My Heart," as well as "Son of Man" and "Two Worlds," make Tarzan an unforgettable theatrical experience. Washed up on the shores of West Africa, an infant boy is taken in and raised by gorillas who name him Tarzan. Apart from striving for acceptance from his ape father, Tarzan's life is mostly monkey business until a human expedition treks into his tribe's territory, and he encounters creatures like himself for the first time. Tarzan struggles to navigate a jungle, thick with emotion, as he discovers his animal upbringing clashing with his human instincts. Character Breakdown Kala A gentle mother ape. Kerchak's mate and Tarzan's protector. Gender: Female Kerchak The gruff leader of the gorillas and Kala's mate. Gender: Male Leopard A fierce carnivore that threatens both gorillas and humans. Young Tarzan An innocent young boy. Loses his parents and is raised by the apes. Gender: Male Age: 10 to 12 Young Terk A sarcastic adolescent ape. Tarzan's best friend. Age: 10 to 12 Terk A sarcastic ape and Tarzan's best friend. Tarzan A vulnerable, fearless young man raised by apes. Terk's best friend who falls in love with Jane. Our story's protagonist. Gender: Male Age: 20 to 30 Jane An adventurous young English botanist. She falls in love with Tarzan. Gender: Female Porter A bumbling English professor of biology. Jane's father. Gender: Male Clayton A brutish, greedy hunter and guide. Leads Jane and Porter's expedition.
