Name Scores T1 Harry Hall 63 (-8) T1 Stephan Jaeger 63 (-8) T3 Five players tied 64 (-7) Full Leaderboard | Tee Times Harry Hall, Stephan Jaeger share first-round lead at Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank FARMINGTON, Utah – Through 18 holes of play in the Korn Ferry Tour’s Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank, England’s Harry Hall and Germany’s Stephan Jaeger sit tied atop the leaderboard after matching rounds of 8-under 63 on a day where 94 players in the 156-player field broke 70. Hall began Thursday’s opening round at Oakridge Country Club near Salt Lake City in idyllic fashion, notching birdies on Nos. 1, 2 and 3 to race out to a 3-under-par start before hitting the brakes hard with a double-bogey on the par-4 fifth. “Over the last few weeks I’ve been playing some great golf and I knew if I made a double-bogey I could get it back,” said Hall after his round. “I followed that up with two birdies, I stayed patient, and a lot of birdies came on the back nine.” After turning in 3-under 33 (thanks to birdies on Nos. 6 and 7), the Hayle, England, native birdied 11, 12 and 13 to reach 6-under on the day before closing with birdies on 17 and 18 for a 5-under 30 and a career-best opening round of 8-under 63.

  • South Africa's 100 Greatest Continues to Build in Quality Every Year, As the Competition Intensifies for the Top Places. This
strap digest line the AERIAL VIEW The par-three 17th at Oubaai. aSouth Africa’s new 100 Greatest continues to build in quality no every year, as the competition 1 intensifies for the top places. This year we announce a new No 1 for the first time in six years, with the Links at Fancourt surpassing Leopard Creek, which had been holding the crown since the 2005 issue. It’s not the only surprise we have for you. The top 10 has a new look to it. The time has come to reveal South Africa’s latest rankings. Prepare to greet nine new members, and a host of positional changes. grant leversha march 2011 • golfdigest.co.za 39 fancourt links takes over By Stuart McLean Photos by at no 1 Grant Leversha & Jamie Thom he Links at Fancourt is now the No 1 course in South TAfrica, having edged the peren- nial titleholder, Leopard Creek, by the statistical equivalent of a short putt. Leopard Creek had been No 1 for six straight years, so dropping to No 2 is a seismic shift for a club which had grown comfortable with its continuing domi- nance. And owner Johann Rupert will no longer have bragging rights over Fancourt’s Hasso Plattner, who was just as much an inspiration behind the build- ing of the Links as Rupert was in estab- lishing Leopard Creek in the mid-’90s. Leopard Creek’s slip to No 2 should not be deemed a demotion. This magnificent venue overlooking the Kruger National Park remains the benchmark when evaluating other courses in terms of its Memorability, Aesthetics and Conditioning.
