This context statement is intended to provide information useful in illuminating and preserving the historic resources of the recent past. The mid-twentieth century was a dynamic period for Olympia, bringing substantial changes to Olympia’s population and to its natural and built environment. By acknowledging the importance of the recent past, we challenge the notion that the built environment can be frozen at any point in time.
