Tandridge Neighbourhood Watch Newsletter Tandridge Neighbourhood Watch Newsletter Bulletin 4 February 3rd – February 16th 2021 Dear Neighbourhood Watch Members You will read in this Bulletin of further reported break-ins into sheds and garages. We urge residents to be mindful about securing their equipment kept in a garage, shed or garden. Many houses are securely alarmed but garages and outbuildings are often left insecure and can offer ‘easy pickings’ for a criminal. Use good quality fixings and a padlock to secure doors using anti-tamper screws in door hinges Lock all windows Fit a mains or battery powered alarm Lock your car even if in the garage and keep the key inside the house in a Faraday bag. Use a forensic coding product to 'property mark' all valuable tools and equipment Secure lawnmowers, petrol powered items and other valuable equipment to the wall or floor using a ground anchor or similar Make items difficult to move by placing obstacles in front of them Consider the use of CCTV Use Outside lighting as a deterrent Let nature help – Holly and hawthorn are particularly difficult to get through. Prickly, deciduous shrubs next to walls or fences act as an effective barrier There has been an increase in the number of catalytic converter thefts over the past two weeks. Please contact us immediately if you witness this taking place with as much detail as possible about the vehicle the offenders are driving. Karen Hughes Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Inspector CRIME REPORTS IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD Our Area Patrol Team and Safer Neighbourhood Team deal with a variety of incidents.
