Why do we………? As Catholics, we are accustomed to symbols and imagery in our liturgies! This weekend we are instituting the use of the lavabo during the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Quite a common practice in the liturgical church, this action is done after the Offertory by the priest to express his desire for interior purification. As the priest washes his hands, he recites quietly a text asking God to cleanse him of sin. It is one of the private prayers he offers to exercise his ministry with greater devotion, and is an ancient practice dating back to the third or fourth century in the Christian church.

Thanks, thanks, and thanks again! I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank all those who gave of their time and talents to make our Triduum celebrations so meaningful and spiritually powerful. We came together as a people of God with various ministries and gifts, helping to provide services that touched hearts, minds and souls. SOCIAL JUSTICE UPDATE

Restructuring with work of the Social Justice Commission: Through dialogue within the commission and response to the recent parish leadership forum, the Social Justice Commission is embarking on a reconfiguration of their work. The goal of this reconfiguration is to improve commission efficiency as we attempt to respond to the myriad needs facing our parish, the community and care for Creation. In response to the housing and homelessness crisis in our area, we are launching a new working group to help address this justice issue. We are announcing the formation of a Housing and Homelessness Working Group. Please visit: www.stjeoparish.org. Follow the links to the social justice update for the full article regarding these changes. The L’Honey Project: As we work to respond to the needs of our honey bees in a climate changing world, we are also seeking ways to share with the Jesuit Community the purpose of the L’Honey Project: The ability of the honey bee and all of God’s Creation to speak of the Glory of God and our deep, profound and inseparable connection with Creation. We will to be sharing these thoughts with the greater Jesuit community and Jesuit West through regular communications. We hope that L’Honey can be a lens through which we can better see our true relationship with Creation and grow a deeper love for the Creator. E-Services Wish List: We are in need of: Tube socks, T-shirts and men/women underwear- med. large and extra-large, Lotion, Hair conditioner, razors and deodorant.
