THE MONTHLY SPECIAL Juneteenth, Photo by: Bill Z Foster “Woah, we're half way there. Woah, livin' on a prayer. Take my hand, we'll make it I swear. Woah, livin' on a prayer!” We cannot believe that we’re already cruising into the month of June here in Philly! After what felt like an endless winter, we’ve sprinted through Spring and landed in Summer! There’s still so much to look forward to this month and we’re super excited for the bi-annual return of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA) presented by the Kimmel Center for Preforming Arts. There’s a whole week of activities leading up to the big festival on June 9th so be sure to check out their website for more info! 2016 PIFA Festival, Photo by: N. From beginning to end, there was no weekend left without a race or festival happening. South Street Spring Festival saw an all-time attendence where folks ate “Philly Tacos”, celebrated Cinco De Mayo, and danced around the city’s largest maypole for Maifest. Plenty of winners at crossed the finish line at the Photo By: O. Gillison Blue Cross Broad Street Run and Race for the Cure on Mother’s Day. Despite a gloomy week the sun finally came out on the final day of the 9th Street Italian Market Festival. Attendees included the Super Bowl LII Champions Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, who stopped by to witness the infamous Grease Pole! While we saw quite a lot of rain dates used for this month, that didn’t stop festival goers from enjoying the many events hosted this month. In fact, there were over Photo By: Bill Z. Foster 110 different events that happened in May. While this was definitely astonishing, the real excitement was on May 19th when Ms. Meghan Markle married Prince Harry and they officially became the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. There were plenty of British-American themed watch parties and high tea celebrations in honor of the last royal wedding for quite some time. We enjoyed seeing all of your happy faces at these events and are looking forward to seeing many of them at the upcoming events in June. The calendar is going to be stacked with opportunities to get outside. Photo via: Italian Market Festival Don’t forget that the end of June begins the Welcome America festivities!
