Bridge across river Yamuna at Mayur Vihar PH I is as per Master Plan 2021.

Current Situation: •ITO bridge congestion Ring Road side (queue in peak hour 700 mts to 1.5 kms) •Nizamuddin Bridge congestion Noida Side (700 m to 1.3 km) •DND Flyway Congestion Ring road side (Bridges are opearting at capacity) •Corridor between Sarai kalen Khan to average speed in peak Hour 10-15 kmph. (Capacity constrained)

•Rapid increase in development to the East of the Yamuna River in the National Capital Territory of Delhi – CWG games (Holding capacity 28 lakhs/2001 Popl 27 lakhs)

• East Delhi in two parts North-East Delhi and East Delhi with population ratio of 15.77% to 10.55% respectively. (2001 population)

•The interactions and developments of immediate adjoining Counter magnets (Noida, Ghaziabad, and Greater Noida.) will demand more trips across Yamuna

Macro Level: •Thus it is imperative to develop planning criteria which takes into consideration balancing effect of Demand supply of passenger trips. •As per Rites Estimates 40 lakhs trips projected for Metro in 2011 but present level is 20 lakhs (50% of projections) in 2012.

•The maximum trips in one day ever observed is 23 lakhs where 8.88 lakhs trips across river Yamuna followed by Gurgaon Metro link 8.1 lakhs trips. •So its not only East Delhi (Three sides by UP) but also the counteragents make adding to demand supply gap across river Yamuna. •Need to connect East Delhi to , the most direct link.

•The Barapullah Nallah elevated corridor will remain under-utilised due to 2 lanes off and on ramps at Ring Road.

• The traffic at DND Flyway and Nizamuddin bridge consists mainly of daily commuters nearly 74% of the total traffic.

C o n s u l t i n g E n g i n e e r s P l a n n e r s & M a n a g e r s INNOVATIONS Alignment Option 1  Connects the existing Barapullah Nallah corridor at Sarai Kale Khan with Mayur Vihar phase-1 junction.  After joining it leads to Trilokpuri, Mayur Vihar Phase-1 & 2 and Kalyanpuri.  It runs parallel to proposed track of DMRC Phase-3.  At the joining point of Mayur Vihar Phase I: Uni-directional flyover and elevated Metro corridor present.  Lesser trip length for majority of the users of the proposed road.  Intersection/ Interchange design will have several configuration.  Aligned along Old Pontoon Bridge. Shahadra drain (along UP Link Road) & elevated metro. Constraint for full access control interchange.

Alignment Option 2

 Connects the existing Barapullah Nallah corridor at Sarai Kale Khan with Sahakarita Marg.  Sahakarita Marg connects to Trilokpuri Road & Nallah Road.  Shortest distance in the flood plains.  At the joining point Metro corridor is elevated. Base of flyover at about 30m from this intersection.  Intersection/ Interchange design will have several configuration.  The existing BT road from Old Pontoon Bridge cannot be used.

Alignment Option 3

 The proposed road intersects the Noida link road at Club Avenue road, which is about 500m away from the DND expressway.  The Club Avenue road further connects the major destinations like Kalyanpuri, Trilokpuri, Phase-2 through a residential road. The distance travelled by the users to reach major destinations will be greater than that for Option-1.  The presence of overheard metro rail and flyover restricts the proposed road users to be at-grade and the junction to be signalized.  The existing BT road from Old Pontoon Bridge cannot be used.

VKS INFRATECH MANAGEMENT PVT. LTD. C o n s u l t i n g E n g i n e e r s P l a n n e r s & M a n a g e r s ALTERNATIVE -1 MERITS: It will decongest the ring road and other arterial road networks thereby releasing pressure predominately from Nizamuddin bridge.

The majority of trips will be from/towards densely populated localities (like Mayur Vihar, Kalyanpuri, Trilokpuri, , Vinod Nagar etc ) which has a better reach from this alternative as compared to other 2 alternatives.

The disused Pontoon disused road is used making it more economical than the other 2 alternatives.

Non-motorized traffic (bicycle riders/ pedestrians) may also avail the proposed facility and decrease their travel time as separate carriageway/footpaths have been provided for them.

Least disturbances to agricultural land in the Yamuna flood plain as compared to the other alternatives.

C o n s u l t i n g E n g i n e e r s P l a n n e r s & M a n a g e r s ALTERNATIVE -1 DEMERITS: Due to the existence of several temporary as well as permanent establishments along the existing bituminous road, this alternative will cause maximum disturbance to the existing setup.

Greater number of constraints as compared to other alternatives due to the proposed 3rd level metro track.

 Design restrictions for the integration of the pillars of the proposed metro.

One flyover will have to be constructed on the Noida link road.

Due to spatial and geometrical constraints, separate ramps for right turning traffic to/from Barapullah could not be provided.

C o n s u l t i n g E n g i n e e r s P l a n n e r s & M a n a g e r s ALTERNATIVE -2 MERITS: It will decongest the ring road and other arterial road networks thereby releasing pressure from Nizamuddin and DND roads. The number of constraints is lesser than the first alternative. Non-motorized traffic (bicycle riders/ pedestrians) may also avail the proposed facility and decrease their travel time as separate carriageway/footpaths have been provided for them. The traffic flow will be smooth since the alternative has long curves. Also the number of horizontal curves is lesser when compared to the first alternative. This alternative passes through open agricultural lands with little tree cover. Very few man-made structures fall along the alignment. Therefore, there will be lesser disturbances to the existing setup.

C o n s u l t i n g E n g i n e e r s P l a n n e r s & M a n a g e r s ALTERNATIVE -2 DEMERITS:  The existing flyover will have to be extended over the entire junction for safety as well as for smooth flowing of the traffic. Hence it is not as economical as the other 2 alternatives.  In the event that the existing flyover is not extended then the proposed junction will be prone to accidents as it connects the Noida link road at the base of the flyover. More disturbances to agricultural land in the Yamuna flood plain as compared to the first alternative. Majority of trips to/from dense localities will travel a greater distance as compared to the first alternative. Due to spatial and geometrical constraints, separate ramps for right turning traffic to/from Barapullah could not be provided. C o n s u l t i n g E n g i n e e r s P l a n n e r s & M a n a g e r s ALTERNATIVE -3 MERITS:  A bi- directional flyover already exists at this junction, which otherwise does not exist in the other 2 alternatives.

 The number of constraints is lesser than the first alternative.

 It is aligned very close to the DND Flyway; hence it will be preferable for the people as they will save on toll tax.

 This alternative passes through open agricultural lands with little tree cover. Very few man-made structures fall along the alignment. Therefore, there will be lesser disturbances to the existing setup and the tree cutting will be least.

C o n s u l t i n g E n g i n e e r s P l a n n e r s & M a n a g e r s ALTERNATIVE -3 DEMERITS:  Majority of trips to/from dense localities will travel greatest distance as compared to the alternative-1 & 2.  Longest of the three alternative alignments.  More disturbances to agricultural land in the Yamuna flood plain as compared to the first alternative.  Due to spatial and geometrical constraints, separate ramps for right turning traffic to/from Barapullah could not be provided.  Proximity to Delhi Noida Expressway.
