“CLASSIC DEEP PURPLE LIVE” PERFORMED BY GLEN HUGHES KESWICK THEATRE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 Glenn Hughes, former bassist and singer of Deep Purple, known to millions as the ‘Voice of Rock’, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and the current front man for rock super group Black Country Communion is pleased to announce that he will be performing Deep Purple only material with his “CLASSIC DEEP PURPLE LIVE” at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA on Friday, September 7. The tour promises to be dynamic, a turn-back-the-clocks, two-hour live extravaganza homage to his tenure in MK 3 and MK 4 incarnations of Deep Purple - one of music history’s most seminal and influential rock and roll groups. "I'm excited to be touring the “Classic Deep Purple Live” in the US this year. I first toured Classic Deep Purple Live in Australia and New Zealand last year and it went down like a storm. We’re also touring the show throughout South America and international festivals throughout the summer. By the time we tour the US, then the UK in October, we’ll be on fire.” As well as Glenn on lead vocals and bass guitar, the touring band also features Soren Anderson (guitar), Jesper Bo Hansen (keyboards) and Fer Escobedo (drums) Deep Purple took a quantum leap when the then 20-year-old Glenn Hughes was seconded from British funk-rock outfit Trapeze in mid-1973. Production Perspectives of Heavy Metal Record Producers Dr Niall Thomas University of Winchester Dr Andrew King University of Hull Abstract The study of the recorded artefact from a musicological perspective continues to unfold through contemporary research. Whilst an understanding of the scientific elements of recorded sound is well documented the exploration of the artistic nature of this endeavour from a production viewpoint is still developing. This study presents an understanding of the phenomenological aspects of Heavy Metal music from the perspective of seven renowned producers working within this genre. Through a series of interviews and subsequent in-depth analysis particular sonic qualities are identified as key within the production of this work: impact; energy; precision; and extremity. A framework is then put forward for understanding sonic elements of recorded Heavy Metal Music. Keywords: recording; Heavy Metal; production; producers; phenomenology Introduction The twenty-first century provides a rich source of creative opportunity through digital technology for practicing musicians to record music. The affordances of the digital revolution have subsequently changed the opportunities for those involved in the creation of such works. Technology enables those who could be described as amateur music makers the opportunity to record music with relative ease. The democratisation of technology has meant that mobile devices can become pocket sized recording studios (Leyshon, 2009), whilst affordable solutions and emulations of previously prohibitively expensive computing and recording technology are readily available via the Internet. -

That image, possibly the most evocative and most repeated in the Western, signifies both continuing adventure and ever westward motion as well as a restless lack of final resolution. This thesis examines the ambiguous endings and the conditions leading up to them in two film Westerns of the 1950s, George Steven’s Shane (1953) and John Ford’s The Searchers (1956). -

Sweden ARTROCK ArtRock Sweden 2010 En årskrönika Året 2010 präglades av ett intensivt musikliv där konserter och spelningar verkar finnas i en allt större omfattning. I de mer folkrika städerna kan man ju i princip finna något att se/höra var dag i veckan. Konkurrensen om dess publik blir då naturligtvis även den hårdare, många som vågar (en eloge till er) får också svårare att få det gå ihop ekonomiskt men eldsjälarna verkar aldrig ge sig tack och lov. Det har blivit en hel del konsertrapporter och recensioner 2010 på ArtRock och ett stort tack till er skribenter som gett oss dessa. Sweden Rock Festival Norje, Sölvesborg 9-12 Juni 2010 Med över 250 albumrecensioner det gångna året har vi förhoppningsvis gett musikbranschen och er läsare så många bra och Text: Ulf Classon objektiva bedömningar eller tyckande som möjligt och naturligtvis massor med tips på kvalitativa plattor. Ännu ett besök på Sweden Rock Festival kan läggas till handlingarna och nu är här skribenterna sitt gillande och ni som känner till deras personliga smak kan lugnt införskaffa skivan i fråga. Här presenteras jag mest sugen på att ta igen förlorad sömn och få upp värmen i kroppen än att dricka öl ur plastflaska och kolla på konserter.
