We’d heard from Mike several times. His life had been destroyed by meth. And then heroin took him one step deeper. His tent in the encampment under I-90 wasn’t his real home, but it was all he had. After breaking down in tears saying he couldn’t go on living the way he was, it seemed like he really wanted to change. I 'm almost ready. When you see someone walking down a path that doesn’t lead anywhere good, you want to walk right up, turn them around, and send them in a new direction. Working on the front lines has shown us that it’s not always that simple. For those on the streets, life can be so full of pain and loss that it’s impossible to see a way out. But there comes a point where that little voice of hope can no longer be ignored. It gets louder and louder until you have no choice but to turn and listen. God’s love transforms us. It beckons us home. It draws out a new version of ourselves that can hope, dream, and persevere. It’s with His love that we pursue good. We continue to serve others along every step of the journey toward restoration. I’'m ready. For Mike, this moment took months. For others it could take years. And sometimes we meet someone who’s ready to step out of homelessness and addiction that very same day. Either way, we will pursue those who are stuck, defeated, and without hope. We do this in love because the Bible tells us “love…hopes all things.” We pursue good because we have seen the light at the end of the tunnel. We endure because nothing and no one is beyond God’s love and redemption. We keep going because we cannot give into despair. Your presence tonight tells us that you’re ready to pursue good. Your support is the voice of hope that is calling men and women across King County to a new life. Thank you for believing in something great. Hope you enjoy making a difference. Together, Let’s Pursue GOOD!
