Time to Get Animated --NekoCon 15 Japanese Convention Returns to the Hampton Roads Convention Center November 2-4--

Hampton, Virginia- This November 2-4, join over 4,000 otaku (fanboys and fangirls) as the Hampton Roads Convention Center welcomes back Virginia’s oldest and longest running Japanese anime convention, NekoCon 15! Activities will include everything from cosplay (a combination of the words costume and play referring to individuals dressing up in outlandish costumes) - to L.A.R.P. (Live Action Role Playing) in which attendees dress up as their favorite anime characters and become part of the action.

Attendees are welcome to attend various panels and workshops and be a part of main attractions like karaoke contests, gaming tournaments, art shows, and nightly dances. Other major highlights include the AMV contest, Asian Ball Joint Doll Tea Party, and a -More-

Each year, NekoCon chooses a different charity in order to promote awareness of that charity and to support the charity with proceeds from the NekoCon Charity Auction and other events at the convention, including the Charity Dunk-A-Director event. This year, NekoCon has chosen Shelterbox.org. This organization provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world that are affected by national disasters.

NekoCon 15 will include guest appearances by:

Hiro Usuda (International Guest) Hiro Usuda is an illustrator from . She has changed her career from a 3DCG designer to a freelance illustrator after leaving Konami Digital Entertainment in 2006.

Over the 8 years working for Konami, she has been responsible with environmental design, 3DCG modeling and texturing for the following titles: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (Until 2006 E3), Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill 4. Other titles she has been associated with include Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Elder Gate.

Tony Oliver (Voice Actor) Tony Oliver’s first foray into television was as the lead voice in the popular animated series . In 1988 he joined as a story editor. In 1992 Tony was tapped to help create a new kind of children’s , the result was the mega children’s hit, The Mighty Morphin .

More recent projects include .hack//GU a multi-player online video game; Daigunder, an anime series for ABC Family/Disney; and : Good Night, Sleep Tight, a breakthrough anime series airing on the Syfy Channel. Tony’s many voice acting credits include Hoodwinked 2, Lupin in Lupin the 3rd, Hibiki in , Gojyo in Sayuki Reload, Harry in Gun Grave.

Chris Cason (Voice Actor) For over ten years, has participated in almost every facet of anime production, (exclusively for Entertainment) in a voice acting, ADR directing, or scriptwriting capacity. Some of his work has been featured on Spike TV, The Independent Film Channel (IFC), Nicktoons, The , and The CW.

Chris’s best known voice credits include and Mr. Popo in Dragonball Z (and as Mr. Popo in Dragonball Z Kai), Holy Roman Empire in Hetalia: Axis Powers, Gluttony in , Jack the Ripper in , Boo and Whitey in Shin- Chan.

Brina Palencia (Voice Actor) has voiced numerous characters for anime and video games. Some of her anime highlights include Natsuki in , Chibitalia in Hetalia, Ciel Pahntomhive in , Holo in Spice and Wolf, Yumi Azusa in Soul Eater, Sora in Oh Edo Rocket, in Evangelion 1.0 and 2.0, Chiaotzu and Puar in Kai, Juliet in Romeo x Juliet, Miharu in , Tony Tony Chopper in , Tamama in Sgt. Frog, Ennis in Baccano, Mikoto in , Georgie in Shin Chan, Eve in , and Moro and Zashikiwarashi in xxxHolic.

J. Michael Tatum (Voice Actor) Discovered by Funimation warhorse and visionary ADR director Christopher Bevins, Tatum’s inexplicable luck has held long enough to see his flag hoisted on a slew of dream roles, most notably Kyoya Otori in the hit English language dub of Ouran High School Host Club and suave, and demonic Sebastian Michaelis in Black Butler.

In early 2010 he teamed up with Terri Doty and Stephen Hoff to launch That Anime Show, a web-based chat show centered on colorful, often diabolically unhinged interviews with friends and colleagues within the industry, all episodes of which can be downloaded for free at http://thatanimeshow.com/.

The Slants – (Musical Guest) What originated as a side project for Simon Young in 2007 proved to be one of the most energetic and contagious movements of music in recent history. In case you haven’t heard, are the first and only all Asian American synth-pop band in the world. They have shared the stage with acts such as Apl.de.Ap (), , , Girugamesh, M.O.V.E and .!

VocoNolro – AniMiku (Musical Guest) Re:VB-P, the developer of the AniMiku software, has been a dedicated member of the Vocaloid community for over two years. From the beginning he was intrigued by Vocaloid concerts, and as an engineer became very interested in the technology used to host those types of events. Eventually he began to design and build his own holographic concert projection system, which led to his first solo concert at Rochester’s Tora-Con anime convention, a huge success. After gaining even more worldwide supporters, he continues to plan and host Vocaloid concerts with his own technology and software, as well as assist Vocalekt Visions.

The OneUps (Musical Guests) The OneUps are a musical collective hailing from Fayetteville, Arkansas, widely praised for their intricate and eclectic approach to the art of game music. Stylistically diverse, yet meticulously skilled, the group has evolved over the past decade into one of the most dominant acts in the video game music scene.With well over 10,000 CDs sold and having performed nationwide — including a very memorable performance at Penny Arcade Expo in 2008 — The OneUps have garnered critical acclaim from popular gaming publications such as GameInformer and EGM. The band has also been featured, and interviewed by numerous online publications such as Destructoid, and MSNBC.

DJ KaKuMei (Musical Guest) Dwaine McCrea II a.k.a DJ KaKuMeI X (a.k.a DJ FuLoN X depending on genre) has been in the mixing game since the age of 6. Expect some anime remixes from out of nowhere, including Tohou, Trance, Hardstyle, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, and even some hardcore.

Chin Hamaya Culture Center – (Musical Guest) Located in Charles County, Maryland, the Chin Hamaya Culture Center teaches adults and children alike the art of taiko drumming. To date, the center has 25 performers (ages 8-45) of all ages and abilities.

Other NekoCon 15 featured panelists include Jason Robinson, Charles Dunbar, and Lord Ramirez.
