The RSL, Commercial Club and Rules Club presented more than $144,000 in funding to 19 THAT SUPPORTS US community groups. This is only a small amount of the contribution to the community that our clubs make on an annual basis. The funding Clubs and their local communities play an important role in each provided by the ClubGrants Scheme assists groups that may not have others success. The Forrest Centre's 'Together We Care' campaign aims to raise a total of $5 million to build a 10-bed Palliative Care Hospice including single room accommodation spaces for families to gather and consulting rooms for visiting doctors and other health professionals. The centre will be part of the 'Palliative Care Alliance' which includes Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network. Wagga RSL Club has committed to donating $120,000 over the next three years to assist the redevelopment of the centre, providing respite and long-term end of life care to all residents within the region. Growing Up • Hank was born Hiram King Williams on September 17th, 1923 in Mount Olive, Alabama. • His mother gave him his first guitar when he was 8. • He had spina bifida which is why he turned to music for comfort • Hank was alone for much of his life, his mom was busy with work and his father was in a veteran's hospital. Musical Background • His musical education was provided by a local blues street singer, Rufus Payne, who was called Tee Tot. • Hank started performing in Alabama in his early teens. • He had his own band at the age of 14 called Hank Williams and his Drifting Cowboys- they had a regular spot on a local radio station Musical Career • Hank first signed with MGM label where he got his first hit, "Move it On Over" and had "Honk Tonkin", with a second billboard success.

On her first Down Under tour, Jett will perform 12 select dates in October-November.     The Tennessean (Nashville, TN) January 18, 2009 Jett Williams finds her place Author: Cindy Watts By Cindy Watts THE TENNESSEAN When Jett Williams was a toddler, her grandmother dressed her in a little cowboy outfit, draped a guitar from her shoulders and stood her on top of the dining room table to belt out "Your Cheatin' Heart." Williams has no memory of the performance. She read about it in her adoption papers about 30 years later. The grandmother, Lillian Stone, was the mother of country legend Hank Williams Sr. According to documents Jett Williams unearthed long after his death, the man whose "Your Cheatin' Heart" is now a staple of classic country music intended to raise her largely by himself. Instead, he was buried on Jan. 4, 1953. Jett was born before sunrise on Jan. 6 of the same year. "I maintain that as his soul was leaving this world my soul was coming into it," Jett Williams said. "I think that during that twilight between death and life, we passed each other coming and going because of the window being so small." Stone legally adopted her son's baby, but she died two weeks after the adoption was final, launching Jett Williams into the foster care system. She didn't find out she was Hank Williams Sr.'s youngest child for decades, and then she spent eight years trying to prove her paternity. Orphans get advocate Williams details her struggle in her 1990 autobiography, Ain't Nothin' As Sweet As My Baby. But recently she decided to do more to raise the awareness of orphans and foster children.
