I hope you enjoy reading about all JMU has to offer you as a student and an athlete. JMU is a terrific university that is continually ranked as one of the top public universities in the country. From the beauty of the campus to the outstanding academic programs, this is a great place where you can grow and develop to your fullest potential. The athletic department made a decision in October of 2006 to fully fund the men’s golf program in both scholarships and budget. With this commitment from JMU, I am excited about the opportunity to coach and recruit players who will enable our team to compete at the highest level. My objectives each year are to play a competitive Division I schedule, to win the CAA Conference Championship and go to the NCAA Schedule Championship. In the Plecker Athletic 5-6 at Frank Landrey Invitational Performance Center, our strength and conditioning coaches hold 19-20 at Georgetown Intercollegiate workouts geared towards improving golf performance. The APC also 26-28 at Kauai Collegiate Invitational houses our state-of-the-art academic support facilities to help the March student-athlete succeed academically. We have seven-day-a-week 1-2 at 2010 Seahawk Invitational playing and range privileges at two local golf clubs (Packsaddle 8-10 at Palmas Del Mar Intercollegiate Ridge Golf Club -- www.packsaddle.net -- and Lakeview Golf Club -- 22-23 at First Market Bank Intercollegiate www.lakeviewgolf.net). Jeff Forbes Head Coach • Third season as head coach of the men’s golf program. • 2008-09 CAA co-Coach of the Year. • Previously coached the JMU women’s golf team from 1996-99. • During his tenure, the women’s team had three top-five finishes at the ECAC Tournament. • Former four-year golfer at JMU and member of the 1991 NCAA Tournament team. • Two-time winner of the Heath Award. • Played golf at the professional level on five tours. • Won one event, had five top-five finishes and 12 top-10 performances during his professional tenure. • Helped design and develop Packsaddle Ridge Golf Course in Harrisonburg, Va. which was recognized in 2003 by Golf Digest as the fifth-best new golf course in the nation. • Earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from JMU.
