April ins Docks Dass man auch mit der dunklen Seite des Lebens überaus erfolgreich sein kann, beweisen Chris Pohl und seine Band Blutengel seit Langem. 1999 zunächst als reines Dark-Electro-Projekt gegründet, verschrieben sich die Berliner schnell einer überaus eingängigen Mischung aus Dance, Pop und mystischen Gothic-Elementen, begleitet von aufwändigen, multimedialen Präsentationen und gigantischen Live-Performances, mit Tänzerinnen, Feuershow, Licht- und Videokunst. Mit ihrem zweiten Album „Seelenschmerz“ veröffentlichte die Band nicht nur eines der erfolgreichsten Szenealben aller Zeiten, sondern wurde auch eine feste Größe in der deutschen Mainstream-Musiklandschaft. International ist die Gruppe ein gefragter Act, mit Fanclubs in aller Herren Länder und Verkaufszahlen, die so manchen deutschen Mainstream- Liebling vor Neid erblassen lassen dürften. Um nur eine Auswahl an jüngeren Karriere-Highlights zu nennen: 2012 spielten Blutengel auf dem ersten „Gothic Meets Klassik“ Festival mit einem kompletten Symphonie-Orchester eine Auswahl ihrer besten Stücke in komplett neu arrangierten, neo-klassischen Versionen. 2013 folgten ausgewählte Shows mit einem Kammerorchester, im Februar 2014 erschien das passende Studioalbum, „Black Symphonies“, mit Orchesterversionen ausgesuchter Blutengel Stücke. 2015 folgte mit „Save Us“ das nächste Studioalbum der Band, welches, wie sein Vorgänger, „Monument“, sogleich auf Platz vier der deutschen Charts einstieg. Die fast durchweg ausverkaufte Tour zum Album präsentierte Blutengel mit großem Ensemble und komplett neuer Video- und Performance - Show. Im Juli 2016 veranstaltete die Band ihr erstes, eigenes und restlos ausverkauftes Open-Air-Event vor der malerischen Kulisse des Wasserschlosses Klaffenbach in Chemnitz.

It argues that subcultures were not forces for revolutionary change, or natural loci of opposition to the state. Only during the brief period from 1982 to 1984 did the state actively seek to impose a unitary vision of culture on the Soviet Union. Throughout the rest of these three decades, the state allowed a significant range of subcultural expression. This policy won either loyalty or toleration for Brezhnev’s government from a majority of Muscovite subculturalists. It proved similarly successful when re- introduced by Vladimir Putin. This dissertation asserts that this policy of tolerance allowed official culture and subcultures to evolve together in a dialectical process. This work also charts key trends in the development of subcultural identities in Moscow. Subculturalists responded to shifting political and economic situations. They generally greeted the arrival of the market with ambivalence, as many felt that musical legitimacy required artists to eschew commercial success. Subculturalists eagerly embraced the Internet, and used it to form connections to other groups of subculturalists and to archive collective memories. Contact with the west produced a variety of different responses among subculturalists, and these responses speak to larger divisions within Russian society.
