Cast Heads West to Join Chris Noth and Chris Pine in Farragut North at the Geffen Playhouse
CAST HEADS WEST TO JOIN CHRIS NOTH AND CHRIS PINE IN FARRAGUT NORTH AT THE GEFFEN PLAYHOUSE Mia Barron, Dan Bittner, Justin Huen, Olivia Thirlby and Isiah Whitlock Jr. Reprise Their NY Roles in the West Coast Premiere of Beau Willimon’s New Play Directed by Doug Hughes LOS ANGELES, May 8, 2009 — Fresh off his lauded New York production of Farragut North, director Doug Hughes reunites much of his ensemble cast, including Juno’s Olivia Thirlby, The Wire’s Isiah Whitlock, Jr, Mia Barron, Dan Bittner and Justin Huen, at the Geffen Playhouse to join the previously announced Chris Noth and Chris Pine. Noth, best known for his longtime stint as Detective Mike Logan on Law & Order and as the (in)famous Mr.Big on Sex and the City, is a fellow cast member from the Atlantic Theater Company’s NY production, while Pine, who is starring as the young Captain Kirk in the new film Star Trek and was recently seen in the Geffen’s production of Neil LaBute’s Fat Pig, is new to the LA production. Written by Beau Willimon, Farragut North was recently nominated for two Outer Critics Circle Awards including Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play. Set against the backdrop of a close presidential race, Farragut North is a timely tale of hubris, loyalty and the lust for power. Chris Pine takes on the role of Stephen, a young press secretary working for a fast-rising candidate. With confidence and power beyond his years, Stephen is convinced he and seasoned campaign manager, Paul, played by Chris Noth, can steer this team into the west wing without breaking a sweat. -
The 48 Stars That People Like Less Than Anne Hathaway by Nate Jones
The 48 Stars That People Like Less Than Anne Hathaway By Nate Jones Spend a few minutes reading blog comments, and you might assume that Anne Hathaway’s approval rating falls somewhere between that of Boko Haram and paper cuts — but you'd actually be completely wrong. According to E-Poll likability data we factored into Vulture's Most Valuable Stars list, the braying hordes of Hathaway haters are merely a very vocal minority. The numbers say that most people actually like her. Even more shocking? Who they like her more than. In calculating their E-Score Celebrity rankings, E-Poll asked people how much they like a particular celebrity on a six-point scale, which ranged from "like a lot" to "dislike a lot." The resulting Likability percentage is the number of respondents who indicated they either "like" Anne Hathaway or "like Anne Hathaway a lot." Hathaway's 2014 Likability percentage was 67 percent — up from 66 percent in 2013 — which doesn't quite make her Will Smith (85 percent), Sandra Bullock (83 percent), Jennifer Lawrence (76 percent), or even Liam Neeson (79 percent), but it does put her well above plenty of stars whose appeal has never been so furiously impugned on Twitter. Why? Well, why not? Anne Hathaway is a talented actress and seemingly a nice person. The objections to her boiled down to two main points: She tries too hard, and she's overexposed. But she's been absent from the screen since 2012'sLes Misérables, so it's hard to call her overexposed now. And trying too hard isn't the worst thing in the world, especially when you consider the alternative. -
Unbelievable Bodies: Audience Readings of Action Heroines As a Post-Feminist Visual Metaphor
Unbelievable Bodies: Audience Readings of Action Heroines as a Post-Feminist Visual Metaphor Jennifer McClearen A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts University of Washington 2013 Committee: Ralina Joseph, Chair LeiLani Nishime Program Authorized to Offer Degree: Communication ©Copyright 2013 Jennifer McClearen Running head: AUDIENCE READINGS OF ACTION HEROINES University of Washington Abstract Unbelievable Bodies: Audience Readings of Action Heroines as a Post-Feminist Visual Metaphor Jennifer McClearen Chair of Supervisory Committee: Associate Professor Ralina Joseph Department of Communication In this paper, I employ a feminist approach to audience research and examine the individual interviews of 11 undergraduate women who regularly watch and enjoy action heroine films. Participants in the study articulate action heroines as visual metaphors for career and academic success and take pleasure in seeing women succeed against adversity. However, they are reluctant to believe that the female bodies onscreen are physically capable of the action they perform when compared with male counterparts—a belief based on post-feminist assumptions of the limits of female physical abilities and the persistent representations of thin action heroines in film. I argue that post-feminist ideology encourages women to imagine action heroines as successful in intellectual arenas; yet, the ideology simultaneously disciplines action heroine bodies to render them unbelievable as physically powerful women. -

How wrong you were, though. While the film is certainly raunchy, perhaps even more so than the first Deadpool, there's always room for more. That's proven by the Super Duper cut of the movie, which has been released on Digital HD. This version of Deadpool 2 first debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and will arrive on Blu-ray (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/this-deadpool-2-blu-ray-comes-with-a-very-special-/1100- 6460283/) on August 21. -

Fans everywhere have debated this topic and it seems the time has come to finally answer the question pressing on everyone’s minds (yes everyone): Who is the best Chris? AHollywood is made up of many stars, and with a common name like “Chris,” it’s even harder to stand out. Of the four most famous Chrises -- Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine, and Chris Pratt -- with numerous collabs and crossovers between them during their careers, audiences have debated which of them is the best. In an attempt to answer this question, NHS students voted for their favorites, as well as for the funniest, hottest, the best actor, and the best role. Listen up folks, Chris Evans is the only single Chris on our list. (We’re not saying there’s a chance, just that no one’s looking to crush that dream anytime soon.) Evans, best known for his role as Captain America, is 39-years old, and has had many di erent iconic facial hair styles over the years. Evans is known to be more sensitive and passionate, o en supporting charities and visiting children in hospital...what a cool guy. He has also performed on Broadway, starring in “Lobby Hero.” Another big aspect of Evans’ life is his pooch, Dodger. RYAN REYNOLDS DEADPOOL 2 WORKOUT ROUTINE Training Volume: 4-6 days per week Explanation: Reynolds and Saladino used a lot of supersets and circuits while training, and those are what they tend to share with sources. But, I was also able to find Saladino’s programming that doesn’t have as much flair to it, which is what they utilize when the workout isn’t “Level 10 on the workout meter” as Saladino would call it. -
LAMORINDA WEEKLY | "Star Trek Into Darkness"
LAMORINDA WEEKLY | "Star Trek Into Darkness" Published May 22nd, 2013 "Star Trek Into Darkness" By Derek Zemrak One of the most famous quotes in the Star Trek legacy is "Where no man has gone before!" This film is a huge undertaking for any director of the Star Trek franchise that has created more than 700 television shows and 12 movies. At first glance into the galaxy, I would say man has gone everywhere, but surprisingly director J.J. Abrams, who directed the first reboot in 2009, delivers a detailed storyline and a movie that is exhilarating to watch on the big screen. Moviegoers will be on the edge of their seats as they experience a brilliantly shot film, while they cheer on the Enterprise crew to succeed in battle against the evil villain of mass destruction. Once again Chris Pine ("Bottle Shock," "Rise of the Guardians") returns as Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto ("Margin Call," "Heroes," "American Horror Story") portrays Spock. As with the cult popular television series, it is the ensemble cast that makes it all work, with Zoe Saldana ("Avatar") as Uhura, Karl Urban ("The Lord of the Rings") as Bones, Simon Pegg ("Ice Age") as Scotty, and John Cho From left: Zachary Quinto is Spock and Chris Pine is ("Harold & Kumar") as Sulu. It should be noted that not one Kirk in "Star Trek Into Darkness" from Paramount of these cast members is a scene hog like William Shatner Pictures and Skydance Productions. (C) 2013 was in the television and early film series. Paramount Pictures. All Rights Reserved. -
