Whipps Cross as it stands now

A new state of the art hospital at Whipps Cross is now one step closer. The Government has endorsed Barts Health NHS Trust’s Strategic Outline Case for a new hospital, and it is progressing to the next stage of the business case process. A summary of the Trust’s vision is available online in Building a Brighter Future for Whipps Cross – Moving to the next stage. The proposals, to be tested more thoroughly in the next, more detailed planning phase, show that a new hospital will continue to provide the same core services but at a faster rate and offer more convenience for patients. Double the number of diagnostic tests will be possible, more Whipps Cross operations will be done as day cases, and more outpatient appointments undertaken remotely, improving quality, access to services and reducing the time patients need to spend in hospital. Community services will be expanded, for example through Did you know? NHS 111 and home monitoring services, as well as improved GP access and more phone and video appointments.
