In Flames är inte bara ett av de första banden inom den s.k. ”Göteborgsdöd- sen”. In Flames var också ett av de första banden som skrev in sig på skivbolaget Nuclear Blasts bandrepertoar och är i högsta grad en av an- ledningarna till att detta skiv- bolag idag är det kanske största skivbolaget på jorden som enbart ger ut hårdrock och metal. De var före Hammerfall på detta skivbolag och kan med största sannolikhet ta till sig en del credit för att bolaget valde att satsa på det svenska bandet, vilka senare gick iväg och blev Sveriges största hårdrocksband. Oktober 2014 Ludwigsburg MHP Arena Mehr Intensität geht nicht: Die schwedischen Überflieger IN FLAMES werden, nachdem sie sich zuletzt erstmals seit zwei Jahrzehnten eine Auszeit zugestanden, mit einem neuen Album und einer ausgedehnten Tour alle Fans des Modern- und Melodic Death Metal überrennen! Die Pioniere dieses speziellen Metal-Genres, die bislang zehn Alben veröffentlichten und zu einer der der bedeutendsten europäischen Metal-Bands aufstiegen, veröffentlichen im September ihr neues Studioalbum „Siren Charms“. IN FLAMES --- SIREN CHARMS What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Perhaps one of the big clichés, but unusually evident when it comes to In Flames and their new album “Siren Charms”. To lose one of the musical engines of a band usually means a ticket to the graveyard of bands for an eternal rest among abandoned careers and reasonably forgotten last albums. Sure, history has proven the opposite once or twice - but one could question if anyone has risen from the ashes with such strength and power as In Flames? When guitarist Jesper Strömblad left the band following 2008’s “A Sense of Purpose”, the harbingers of doom were very vocal on the imminent collapse of the Gothenburg band. That never happened. In what must be described as a pure backlash, the band delivered it’s strongest album to date – “Sounds of a Playground Fading” - which was both awarded for gold-level sales and topped charts in both Sweden and Germany. “Siren Charms”, the first album with Niclas Engelin as permanent guitarist in the band, cements the greatness hinted at with the previous album; this is a band taking it’s game several steps forward, leaving both imitators and nay-sayers far behind. The first sign that the band have taken a different route is the choice of studio. Where they previously have recorded at home in Gothenburg, the whole operation was now moved to Berlin and the legendary Hansa Ton Studios. At the Köthener Strasse-location, artists like Iggy Pop, David Bowie, U2 and Killing Joke have all recorded some of rock history’s most spoken of classics, and it is no exaggeration to say that history can be felt in the walls.

Black & White Line-Up: Anders Friden - Vocals Björn Gelotte - Guitar Jesper Strömblad - Guitar Peter Iwers - Bass Daniel Svensson - Drums Erschienen 02.09.2002 bei Nuclear Blast Mit "The Clayman" haben In Flames vor knapp 2 Jahren einen Meilenstein des melodischen Death Metals abgeliefert. Dementsprechend groß war die Erwartungshaltung zum aktuellen Album "Reroute to Remain"... Das Album läuft jetzt mittlerweile mehr oder weniger den ganzen Tag ununterbrochen bei mir im Hintergrund, aber was ich davon halten soll, weil ich immer noch nicht so ganz. Einerseits... ganz klar. In Flames sind in Topform, das wird sehr deutlich. Einige sehr interessante Songs finden sich auf diesem Album, wie zB "Metaphor", das beinahe schon eine Ballade ist oder auch "Trigger", bei welchem sich heftig knüppelnde und softe, schmeichelnde Parts abwechseln. Dann gibts da auch noch eine ganze Menge Kracher, wie der zweite Track, "System", eine dreckige, räudige Hasshymne, die jedesmal vor dem Refrain in einen soften Part mündet. Abwechslungsreich können sie schon sein! Auch einige potentielle Ohrwürmer finden sich auf dem Album, zB. "Egonomic", "Cloud Connected", oder auch der Rausschmeißer "Black & White", die aufgrund ihrer Ohrwurmqualitäten auch sehr gut auf "The Clayman" gepaßt 1/2 hätten, ebenso wie "Free Fall", den möglicherweise melodisch stärksten Song des ganzen Albums.
