    8 PIECE HIP-HOP COLLECTIVE BIOGRAPHY Formed in a basement in Ottawa, Ontario, in late 2012, BLAKDENIM blends genres like no Canadian act today. The group fuses hip-hop, funk, rock and soul with lyrical content that ranges from identity issues to daily issues, like picking yourself up after a bad day, perseverance, self- esteem and hope. Influenced by artists like The Roots to Earth, Wind and Fire, there’s no shortage of musical expertise with the line-up consisting of an emcee, female vocalist, 2 trumpets, saxophone, bass guitar, guitar, keys and drums. They soon became known as an incredible live act not to be missed within the Nation’s Capital across a spectrum of music genre fans alike. As finalists in the Live 88.5 Big Money Shot radio competition in 2013, the band was awarded a small sum of money that allowed them to record their debut EP. “Vanguard(EN)” was independently released in 2014, and made top hip-hop charts on college radio and selective rotation on commercial FM stations. Their professional music videos quickly gained traction with thousands of views each. Serious media buzz came from a highly successful club tour in February 2015, and well-attended showcases at Indie Week, where they were a top finalist. BLAKDENIM was destined to become a festival favourite across Ontario and Quebec and soon found them-selves opening for iconic artists like Charles Bradley and Karim Ouellet. BLAKDENIM continues to prove that Ottawa is more than capable of putting out truly elite talent. For an emerging band to have been invited to play these festivals and showcases, including Canadian Music Week, indicates the great potential for career longevity that major festival promoters and industry recognize in them.

    Illenium Awake 2.0 at Terminal 5 Article by Anthony Cordero It’s been a week since I was blessed to attend two out of three shows at Terminal 5 to see Illenium. Illenium Awake 2.0 tour was an experience and I’m still on cloud 9. A Truly Transcending Experience Each night sold out and had a completely stacked lineup which included Illenium and some of his closest friends; Said the Sky, Dabin, and Trivecta to name a few. They also joined Illenium during his live performance which made his set so unique from a lot of other electronic artists. While Said the Sky was serenading us on piano, Dabin and Trivecta were shredding it on guitar. The visuals were breathtaking and altogether awe-inspiring. Illenium Awake 2.0 & The Illenial Community On night one I went solo and met some really awesome Illenials and we bonded the whole night! I believe that fate truly brought us together and after the night was over we felt like we had known each other for years. We linked back up the following night to experience yet another incredible performance by Illenium and company. There’s just something special about Nick Miller. You can clearly see he loves what he does. His stage presence is great and he’s an all together humble person who loves his fans.
