Potential House Committee Leaders in the 115th Congress October Edition 2 Potential House Committee Leaders in the 115th Congress • This deck outlines potential changes to House chairmen and ranking members in the 115th Congress, which convenes in January • Some changes will occur as a result of retirements and election outcomes • Term limits will also force changes on some committees – Republicans can serve three Congresses, or six years total, as chairman and ranking member – Democrats don’t impose term limits • In the following slides, you’ll see: – A breakdown of major committees that could have new leaders after Nov. 8 – The candidates for chairman and ranking member under a slimmer Republican majority – How movement on one committee could mean changes for others 3 Democrats would need a huge wave to retake the house • While Democrats are poised to gain seats, winning the 30 seats needed for a majority is unlikely. 4 Appropriations: Rogers’ term limit creates opportunity for Republicans • Republicans: Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) is term limited and will seek the top spot on the panel’s Defense Subcommittee. He’ll probably be succeeded by current Defense Subcommittee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-N.J.) or Ag-FDA Subcommittee Chairman Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.). Frelinghuysen Lowey • Democrats: Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.) will probably retain her position as ranking member. Other notes: Rogers would face off against Kay Granger • (R-Texas) for the Defense Subcommittee. Aderholt Republican Chairman Ranking Democrat Current Hal Rogers (Ky.) • Administration of Donald J. Trump, 2018 Remarks on Signing A
Administration of Donald J. Trump, 2018 Remarks on Signing a Memorandum on Promoting the Reliable Supply and Delivery of Water in the West and an Exchange With Reporters in Scottsdale, Arizona October 18, 2018 The President. So this is a big day for the Central Valley, California. And I want to thank everybody for being here. This is a vital action—in my opinion, vital—to improve access to water in the American West. What's happened there is disgraceful. They've taken it away. There's so much water, they don't know what to do with it, and they send it out to sea. For decades, burdensome Federal regulations have made it extremely difficult and expensive to build and maintain Federal water projects. You all know about that. Millions of Americans in the West depend on critical water infrastructure to irrigate farmland, provide water and power, and support our economy. Some of the best farmland in the world, by the way, can't be used, because they don't have water. But they actually have a lot of water. In a few moments, I will sign a Presidential memorandum to dramatically improve the reliable supply and delivery of water in California, Oregon, and Washington. We are honored to be joined by Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy. House Majority Leader Kevin O. McCarthy. Yes, sir. The President. Where is Kevin? Come here, Kevin. He traveled a long way to be here. And Representatives Devin Nunes, Jeff Denham, David Valadao, and Tom McClintock. These are tremendous people. They love this country.

February 10, 2017 Sent separately to: Congressman John Garamendi (D), California, District 3 Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (D), California, District 11 Congressman Jared Huffman (D), California, District 2 Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D), California, District 26 Congressman Duncan Hunter (R), California, District 50 Congresswoman Grace Napolitano (D), California, District 32 Congressman Jeff Denham (R), California, District 10 Congressman Alan Lowenthal (D), California, District 47 Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R), California, Distirct 1 Dear Representatives, The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce represents over 2,500 of the most successful and committed businesses and organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. At the Chamber we are focused on three pillars of prosperity: advocacy; business development; and economic development. With programs focused on bilateral trade with China, the rest of Asia, and Latin America, we are working to grow our local economy from across the globe. A dependable freight rail network is essential for many businesses in the region to compete and succeed. The affordable, efficient, and reliable movement of goods is important for our local economy. Freight rail provides a link for thousands of jobs in the region by connecting farmers, technology companies, and manufacturers to markets across the country and around the world. Freight rail also provides a foundation for commuter and passenger rail, lessening deterioration of our public infrastructure. The Bay Area’s economy depends on railroads not only for the money it saves and the jobs it supports, but also because it fuels our region’s economy and sustains our way of life. Railroads provide a vital connection to our ports transporting everything from food, to lumber, to motor vehicles.

Congressmen David Valadao, Devin Nunes, Jeff Denham, Jim Costa and John Garamendi worked in concert with Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senator Dianne Feinstein to secure passage of the Water Bill through both the Director of Corporate House and Senate. The strategy employed by the majority leader worked Communications, Alicia Rockwell perfectly and secured the bipartisan passage of the bill despite the best with Congressman Jim Costa and efforts of Senator Barbara Boxer to defeat it.
