I said, "I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me.” I Tim. 5:21 “Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.” Jude 1:21 “keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” James 1:27 “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” Psalm 39:1 (NKJV) 1 To the Chief Musician. God has provided the spiritual weapons for us to be successful in the spiritual warfare we face! Christians must personally pick up the weapons and use them ‐‐ BE ON THE OFFENSIVE AND ON THE DEFENSIVE! Use the weapons to protect yourself! 4 Sunday AM 5/15/2016 Ex. 20:12 quoted in Gal. 6:2,3 “‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise: 3’that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.’“ Pr. 3:1,2 “My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; 2For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you.” Pr. 9:10,11 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 11For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to you.” Pr. 10:27 “The fear of the LORD prolongs days, But the years of the wicked will be shortened.” The news is constantly filled with stories of young, talented young people who have great potential whose lives are just “snuffed out!” Examples: 4‐15‐16 Andriana Hall, 20, from Tupelo, Miss., lost control of her car in heavy rainfall; hit 2 tractor‐trailers. 5‐8‐16 Andrew Demboski, 21, fell off Mississippi State’s Video Scoreboard; died. 5 Sunday AM 5/15/2016 Fast driving, dangerous driving on rain & snow, road rage, drinking & drugs, dangerous and risky actions (not respecting the fragile nature of life!) Realize: when you die, this life is OVER; eternity begins!!! 5 Sunday AM 5/15/2016 I Cor. 16:13 “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” Col. 2:6‐8 “As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. 8Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” Heb. 13:9 “Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines.” I Jn. 4:1 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” I Tim. 6:20,21 “Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear. 21I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality.” People are going to contradict and reject the Bible; people are going to ridicule It and mock It! People are going to challenge your faith in God, in Christ, in salvation, in the truthfulness and exclusivity of the N.T. Church. Stand STRONG in your faith! 6 Sunday AM 5/15/2016 Pr. 22:1 “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Loving favor rather than silver and gold.” Reputation is vital: Think about these women’s names: Jezebel, Athaliah, Herodias Think about these men’s names: Judas, Haman, Diotrophes Think about these women’s names: Naomi, Jochebed, Deborah, Esther, Mary, Dorcas, Phoebe, Lois & Eunice Think about these men: Noah, Abraham, Joseph, David, Peter, Paul Your greatest reputation ‐‐ “Christian!” You BELONG TO CHRIST!!! Son or daughter of your parents, member of Washington Avenue! 7 Sunday AM 5/15/2016 I Tim. 4:12 “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” Mt. 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.” Eph. 1:4 “just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,” I Pet. 1:15,16 “but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.’“ I Tim. 5:22 “Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people's sins; keep yourself pure.” Phil. 2:15 “that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,” Let you actions and words be a true picture of your heart!
