QUILT SHARES "ROLLER" OFF UPCOMING RECORD PLAZA, ANNOUNCES US TOUR DATES

PLAZA OUT 2/26 ON MEXICAN SUMMER

On February 26th, Quilt will be releasing their third and finest record, Plaza, on Mexican Summer, and today, they're sharing the song "Roller." One of the last songs written for the album, it features the vocals of Anna Fox Rochinski, and is one of the most poppy songs ever written by the band. However, despite its upbeat nature, it hides a lyrical sadness. The song focuses on feelings of being stuck and frustrated with other people, as well as the concept of being a "roller," which Rochinski describes as "a sensation that lies somewhere between claiming strength for yourself but also hiding to protect yourself from the human bullsh*t of the world. Ultimately, it's a rumination on seeking peace through isolation."

Just prior to the holidays, the band announced a pair of record release shows, one in Brooklyn and another in their hometown of Boston. Today, the band is announcing an extensive tour in support of Plaza. Their live show is not to be missed. Check out a stunning performance of "Eliot St." from Last Call from late last year.

EARLY PRAISE FOR "ELIOT ST." AND PLAZA

"Quilt's dozy strum and flowing strings romanticize Shane Butler's rueful lyrics about how we elude commitment so easily. It's a huge step up from last year's Held in Splendor, showing off a similar depth of plainspoken expression to Real Estate." - Pitchfork

"I look forward to being kept cozy this winter with the release of Plaza." - NPR Music (Bob Boilen)

"If this lovely track is any indication of the rest of the album, we can’t wait to walk around with Plaza when it’s released in February." - KEXP

"Lead single 'Eliot St.' indicates that it’ll be another collection of the jangly, upbeat rockers that endeared the band to fans of other indie acts like Mikal Cronin, Real Estate, and Woods. The flower- power vibes also recall classic bands like the Byrds and the Mamas & the Papas — this style never really goes out of fashion. " - Entertainment Weekly

"['Eliot St.' is] delicately arranged song that mimics the sun creeping across a field at dawn in some unidentifiable rural place." - Stereogum
