The primary focus is to build confidence, self‑esteem and promote character development along with sparking an enthusiasm for physical activity, health and exercise. In addition to general physical education classes, many activities are offered to the CYC members. These activities include Players in Progress (PIP), dance, stickball, tumbling, etc. To participate in the health and fitness program, the child must be a member of the CYC.

JR. FIRST LEGO LEAGUE (JR. FLL) is an exciting opportunity for Chickasaw students 6‑8 years of age. Junior FIRST LEGO League teaches the benefits of teamwork, sparks an interest in science and technology and introduces basic design skills through a hands‑on approach with the fun of LEGO building. It also provides a culture of sharing and learning from others. For required forms and program information, visit Chickasaw.net/STEM. Deadline to apply is August 31. FIRST LEGO LEAGUE (FLL) provides Chickasaw students, ages 9-14, with an exciting experience in a global robotics program that ignites an enthusiasm for discovery, science and technology. The FIRST LEGO League teams are guided by a team coach and assisted by mentors. Students research and solve real‑world problems based on the challenge theme, present research and solutions and build an autonomous robot using engineering concepts. VEX‑IQ is a robotics platform for Chickasaw students entering seventh and eighth grade designed to transition students between our FLL (FIRST LEGO League) and FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) teams. Students discover the interesting and rewarding life of engineers and researchers. The competition challenges teams of students and mentors to solve a common problem by designing and building a robot using a standard kit of parts and a common set of rules. To compete, students must focus on design, demonstrate team spirit, professionalism and maturity and the ability to overcome obstacles. FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION (FRC) allows students to build on skills learned as an FTC participant. Operating under strict guidelines, limited resources and a short build period, FRC teams are challenged to design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills and build and program a 120‑pound robot to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. Team mentors share their skills and talents to guide each team. To compete, students must focus on design, demonstrate team spirit, professionalism and maturity and the ability to overcome obstacles. CHICKASAW NATION AVIATION & SPACE ACADEMY (CNASA) is a weeklong academy for Chickasaw students interested in space, aviation, math and science. The CNASA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM provides Chickasaw students across the country with an opportunity to participate in the Chickasaw Nation Aviation & Space Academy. Interested students must submit a scholarship application and a CNASA application, which contains competitive criteria applicants must meet. A committee will evaluate and rank completed applications to determine scholarship recipients. CNASA scholarships will cover the cost of round‑trip airfare or mileage, lodging and meals. SPACE CAMP is a weeklong premier educational program for Chickasaw students, ages 9-18, located at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center at NASA’s Marshall Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. A limited number of students are selected each year. Interested students must submit an application, which contains competitive criteria applicants must meet. A committee will evaluate and rank completed applications to determine recipients. Camp dates and additional information can be obtained by calling the number above. The YOUTH CLOTHING GRANT provides students with a $200 non‑reloadable Visa gift card each school year. Students must apply each school year. The grant must be used for school clothing purchases only. The COLLEGE CLOTHING GRANT provides a non‑reloadable $150 Visa gift card for part‑time students or $300 for full‑time students, per academic level classification. This program offers eligible Chickasaw students a grant of $150 once per year to assist with expenses or fees to participate in various events, clubs, leagues or other extracurricular activities. Students classified as seniors are eligible for an additional grant of $150 once per lifetime for senior expenses. BURIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM CONTACT: Any area office (see pages 10-11) • WEB: Chickasaw.net The burial assistance program is for Native Americans residing within the Chickasaw Nation boundaries. The Chickasaw Nation will pay up to $2,500, directly to the funeral home, toward the final balance of a Chickasaw citizen’s burial expenses. The burial assistance program cannot reimburse families. Verification of citizenship, Social Security card, death certificate, final funeral home statement, income, verification of deceased’s address and residence must be provided to apply.

The honor guard also participates in various tribal functions and patriotic activities. Individuals or groups requesting service must call and make advance arrangements. D • Ada, OK 74820 The Chickasaw Nation Headquarters Gym is a state‑of‑the‑art basketball facility available for rent to Chickasaw citizens for tournaments and practices. The gym is built to accommodate a variety of ages, with goals that adjust from eight to 10 feet. Open gym times will be available for shoot arounds and pick up games. The complex features two adult fields and one youth field. Each field is built to accommodate a variety of softball events, from t‑ball and coach‑pitch, to slow‑pitch and fast‑pitch games. Additional amenities include a digital scoreboard, concession stand, PA booth, playground and basketball court.

This is a nationwide program that honors eligible Chickasaws by offering a Chickasaw Nation veterans jacket in appreciation of their military service.

This program seeks traditional stories or stories about the old ways. Both youth and adults can participate. The IMANOLI WRITER’S CONFERENCE is designed for writers looking to enhance their writing skills. Professionals from diverse fields of writing share their knowledge about the different aspects of the writing process, writing styles and publishing. Conference is free and open to the public. The conference takes place on the first Thursday in August. The MUSICAL TOUR offers the season's musical which tours to various locations within the Chickasaw Nation boundaries. Once per year, a large‑scale musical will be produced and performed at predetermined venues. This gives citizens an opportunity to be involved with or experience art through live performance. A GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP is available to Chickasaw students who take three or more credit hours each term and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Awards are based on enrollment and classification, and an incentive is available based on GPA. The GOVERNOR’S, LT. GOVERNOR’S & LEGISLATOR’S SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded one‑time only for graduating high school seniors who have achieved a high level of academic success. In order to be eligible for these scholarships, a student must have earned a 3.85 GPA or higher or have been selected class valedictorian or salutatorian. A HIGHER EDUCATION GRANT may be awarded to undergraduate, graduate or doctoral students who maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher each semester. An INTER‑TRIBAL COUNCIL OF THE FIVE CIVILIZED TRIBES JOHNSON‑O'MALLEY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded each year to one male and one female graduating high school senior.
