Sue’s previous experience with Special Olympics Alberta and Getting Ready for Inclusion Today (GRIT) enabled her to jump in with both feet. Sue’s passion and enthusiasm for fostering a culture of service excellence, has allowed our team to think outside the box as we work to integrate WSA’s strategic plan into our everyday work. Throughout this past year, we have welcomed many new individuals into the WSA family, both within Residential and Day Services. We are so inspired and grateful for the unique experiences and gifts that each person brings along with them. Along with new individuals, we have also had several incredible new staff members join our team this year, including our new Director of People and Culture, Sheri Grist, and John Alexander, our new Manager of Business & Operations for our Empties to WINN and GreenGoods programs. Our Mindful Hearts Training program has continued to pick up momentum. Along with ongoing training of WSA staff, we continue to receive requests to bring this combination of best practices for supporting people with developmental disabilities and those facing the challenges of aging and dementia, from all around the province. Thanks to funding provided by the Stollery Family Foundation, we will be hiring a Mindful Hearts Supervisor in 2019 to continue to evolve the Mindful Hearts Training program.
