Dec 23, Natalie D rated it liked it Shelves: The Last Castawayssplit-my-opinionchildhood-reads. This is a really charming novel, about a grandfather and his dog whom go on wonderful and wacky adventures together. This one in particular is about a sea voyage that goes wrong, when Roo unwittingly buys an old The Last Castaways and assembles a crew. The Last Castaways short, sweet and wonderfully warm and witty. However the story of the author, and his tragic life and death is truly heart wrenching, and in my The Last Castaways rather overshadows in some ways, my enjoyment of the book Hence my 3 star rating.
