S.R. No. 228 SENATOR WAGONER Honoring Crystal Bowersox for her outstanding achievements on American Idol. WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Crystal Bowersox on becoming one of the four remaining finalists on American Idol and performing her hometown visit in Ellison, Ohio; and WHEREAS, Crystal Bowersox's exceptional singing abilities, developed through years of hard work, have brought enjoyment to millions of listeners. Consistently thrilling her audiences on American Idol, she has the unique distinction of appealing to a global audience, a fact which is attributable not only to her tremendous ability but also to her genuine dedication and commitment; and WHEREAS, Singing requires exceptional talent and a feverous work-ethic, and Crystal Bowersox has honed and perfected her skills as a vocalist by devoting countless hours to practice and rehearsal. In the process, she has learned important lessons about poise, cooperation, and self-discipline; and WHEREAS, Crystal Bowersox can be justifiably proud of her achievements, as they are evidence of her sincere desire to develop her gifts completely so that she might fulfill her future goals. With her talent and initiative, she has no doubt developed a knowledge of music that will continue to benefit her throughout her lifetime; therefore be it RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Crystal Bowersox for her exemplary efforts on American Idol and welcome her back to the State of Ohio for her hometown visit; and be it further RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Crystal Bowersox. Lee DeWyze Biography FRAMES Lee DeWyze formally launches the pivotal next stage of what is already a high-profile musical career with his Vanguard Records debut – Frames. The 27-year-old DeWyze seriously considered calling the album “Silver Lining,” after the hook-laden song because that phrase succinctly sums up where he’s been and where he’s headed. “This past year, I hunkered down and wrote an album,” the Chicago native explains. “I wanted to take it back to what I’m really about, which is writing emotionally charged, meaningful songs. It wasn’t like I wanted to find a label and then decide what kind of album to make. I knew what kind of album I wanted to make and knew I could make. Interestingly, movie critic RogerAmerican Ebert Idol’s mounted criticism against Palin for being “the American Idol candidate,” in which he argued the following: I think I might be able to explain some of Sarah Palin’s appeal. She’s the “American Idol” candidate. Consider. What defines an “American Idol” finalist? They’re good‑looking, work well on television, have a sunny personality, are fierce competitors, and so talented, why, they’re darned near the real thing.
