CRD works in close association with Developmental Agencies under various programmes and schemes. The core activity of the organization consists of Planning, Executing and Monitoring of Integrated Watershed Management Programmes. In the reporting period, The Local Self Government Department of Government of Kerala have accredited CRD as one of the Service Providers to implement Sanitation programmes through the Gramapanchayats. In the reporting period, we have completed the participatory study project supported by NABARD to explore the farm practices of 101 select farmers and to publish the details in a book form. This book, lead farmers series-I was released by the CGM, NABARD. In the year 2009, we have been appointed by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) as the Resource Support Organization (RSO) for its Watershed Projects in Kasaragod District under Prime Minister’s Distressed District Package Programme for three years. On successful completion of the implementation of RSO project, NBARD has extended the project for two more years. It is a great achievement for us that CRD to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for the three cluster watershed projects with a total area coverage of 16738 Ha under Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) of the Government in Parappa and Kanhangad Block Panchayats of Kasaragod DT. -

The Temple is situated just 50 meters away from the Kottikulam Railway Station and 3 km away from the Bekal Fort, the international tourist centre. Bhagavathy or mother goddess is the main deity. Bhagavathi is worshipped in two forms as Mootha Bhagavathi (Durga) and Elaya Bhagavathi (Saraswathi). Besides these two Goddesses, Vishnumoorthi, Ghantakarnan and Dhandan Devan are the other deities. 1. Introduction
1. INTRODUCTION 1.1. History Kasaragod, the northernmost district of Kerala, is endowed with rich natural resources and is noted for its majestic forts, ravishing rivers, hills, green valleys and beautiful beaches. The rich and varied cultural heritage of the district is portrayed through spectacular presentations of Theyyam, Yakshagana, Poorakkali, Kolkali and Mappilappattu. Seven languages are prevalent in Kasaragod. Malayalam is the administrative language. Other languages are Kannada, Tulu, Konkani, Marati, Urdu and Beary.Prior to State reorganization, Kasaragod was part of the South Kanara district.Kasaragod became a part of Malabar district following the reorganization of States and formation of unified Kerala State. Later, Kasaragod Taluk of Malabar district was bifurcated in to Kasaragod and Hosdurg Taluks and integrated with the then newly formed Cannanore district. Kasaragod became part of Kerala following the re-organization of states and formation of Kerala in 1st November 1956.The district was Kasaragod Taluk in Kannur District.The formation of Kasaragod district was a long felt ambition of the people.It is with the intention of bestowing maximum attention on the development of backward area, Kasaragod district was formed on 24th May,1984 as per GO (MS)No.520/84/RD, Dated 19.05.1984 by taking Kasaragod and Hosdurg taluks from the then Kannur district.The name Kasaragod is said to be derived from the word Kasaragod which means Nuxvemied Forest(Kanjirakuttam). 1.2. Physiography Kasaragod is bounded on the north and the east by Dakshina Kannada and Coorg districts of Karnataka State, on the south by Kannur district and on the west by the Lakshadweep Sea. -

Eligibility for Admission. 1.1. Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have a Masters Degree recognized as equivalent to the Masters Degree of Kannur University, with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 –point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). 1.2. A relaxation of 5% of marks from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade shall be allowed to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy-Layer) and Differently-Abled Persons and other categories of candidates as per the decision of University / State Government from time to time. 2. Criteria for Admission 2.1. Those who have cleared JRF conducted by such bodies as UGC and other similar institutions of Central Government. 2.2 Candidates who have secured the Research Fellowship (of three years or more) of State /Central Government funding agencies. 3. Admission 3.1 Candidates who have secured Junior Research Fellowship and applied within the time limit shall submit synopsis of the proposed Research Work before the Department Research Committee 3.2 Candidates recommended by the Department Research Committee will be given admission to Course Work and Ph.D. Programme. 3.3 Such candidates shall undergo a Course Work of six months duration on recommendation of the Department Research Committee.
