A NOTE TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS When I opened Midas Katy on June 1, 2007 I made a promise to myself to build an auto repair shop that was honest and that we would deliver great service to the community. Seven years down the road, after some health issues on my part, we lost our way and our focus. Today I reiterate that promise. Midas Katy will get back to its roots and operate as an honest repair shop, fully equipped with the best tools and equipment and staffed with well-trained personnel. WE WILL DELIVER GREAT SERVICE TO ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS. Thank you Katy for the wonderful eight (8) years! Marcelino Santos - OWNER. Page 6 |March 6, 2015 The Katy News Volume 26 | Number 5

By Tom Behrens Katy Sports © The Katy News 2015 Basketball Playoffs Girls Season Over; Seven Lakes Boys Continue Play By Tom Behrens In an unexpected loss, the Seven Lakes girls lost to Westside in 6A quarterfinals, 64-57 finishing with 21-8 for the season. Cinco Ranch lost to Cypress Ranch 63-54 in 6A area. Tompkins, with a record of 18-10 surprised Bellaire in Bi-District, 63-62 and then lost to Cypress Woods 80-19. Taylor at 14-8 almost beat Westside, losing by only 2 points, 37-35. On the boys side, Cinco Ranch’s loss to Aldine Davis, 65-61 in a 6A area game was another unexpected turn of events. Cinco Ranch finished the season at 27-4. Seven Lakes 17-11 defeated Cypress Ranch and advances to quarterfinals against Cypress Lakes. Taylor lost in Bi-district to Houston Sam Houston, 71-48. “Coming into the Westside game we were excited about our opportunities,” said Seven Lakes girls’ basketball coach, Angela Spurlock. “We were playing our best basketball game of the year, and we had control of the floor early in the game. Of course Westside is 32-3 for a reason.” “We had a great basketball plan,” continues Spurlock, “and had numerous leads throughout the first half. We made some mistakes which is not uncommon in games that are that big, various mistakes down the stretch in the second half, and Westside capitalized on some of those mistakes. They went down and hit a couple of 3’s that hurt, made a layup here and there that hurt us. Every time they hit one, we responded, but a couple times down the stretch we couldn’t hit one, and it allowed them to get back into the game. But that’s what good teams do, capitalize on your mistakes. We are sad that we have to end our season because it was a really fun season.” Seven Lakes Lady Spartans lost to Westside in 6A quarterfinals 64-57 finishing the season 21-8.
