DEPARTMENTDEPARTMENT OFOF CORRECCORRECTIONSTIONS ICTIM V Y T I DOC TALK.… O N F U F M E IN THIS ISSUE: Predictors of Domestic Violence, page 3 N M D CO ER MOUNTAIN VIEW YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTER z Music Program z By Michael Cushman Over the last month-and-a-half, music students at Mountain View have been attending performances of the summer Arcady Music Festival Series. The first performance was the Ragtime Revue, where students heard Ragtime and unusual instruments, like the Theramin, washboard, and musical saw. After the performance, students had the opportunity to play the shamisen, mandolin, and a three-manual organ. Other performances were the Forte String Quartet, with a 16-year- old guest violinist from Maine; the Western Winds, a cappella vocal ensemble from New York City; and the Mindanao Kulintang Ensemble from the Southern Philippines. Founder and Creative Director, Masanobu Ikemiya, has brought a variety of music from around the world to the State of Maine through the Arcady performances. Mindanao Kulintang Ensemble On Tuesday, August 26th, Director Ikemiya visited Mountain View to speak and perform for students at the facility. Nominated for a Grammy Award in 1994, he often performs with the New York Philharmonic and Japan Philharmonic Orchestras, and is the director of the New York Ragtime Orchestra. Students were amazed by his talent, and pleased that a world-class musician would spend the time to visit and perform for them, and allow them to perform for him. Totally influenced my understanding of him and an appreciation of the hardcore group Korn. I cried many times. Flowing text, Original pages. I was excited when I got approved and I read this in two days. This book isn't a holier than thou spiritual book, but a story about a man with his struggles and failures. He is not going to take you out of that clean you out and then put you right back in it. Brian Welch. No trivia or quizzes yet. Want to Read saving…. Though his story is wild, hilarious, and deeply poignant, the message is simple: God will love you into the freedom of being yourself, as long as you keep the relationship going and never, ever quit. Reading about his return to Korn, and the thoughts of his bandmates are intriguing, and the struggles Brian has with Jennea his daughter have you rooting for both of them by the end. God does not play like that. He lives in Nashville, TN. Welch aka Head does not leave anything out. Bulk Pricing Options. This is how he fought to be a good father, a successful entrepreneur, continue to engage his talent as a musician, and most of all, be a happy person, and how none of that came easy. While he didn't go into specifics, he did say that Jennea was saying "inappropriate things" on Facebook. -

FY2014 2Nd Quarter Financial Report
December 11, 2013 Contact: City Manager, 309-434-2210, [email protected] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE U.S. Cellular Coliseum Reports 2nd Quarter Net Operating Loss CIAM Reports Year-To-Date net operating loss of $300,848, which is $43,603 under budget “Historically our first six months have come in lower in comparison to our last six months, which is expected to have a large up-swing in revenue.”- Bart Rogers, V.P. of the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Officials with Bloomington’s U.S. Cellular Coliseum are reporting a net operating loss of $239,205 in the second quarter, for a six-month net operating loss of $300,848. Approximately $41,000 was spent on building repairs and maintenance to the building’s HVAC system, Ice Plant, bowl speakers and outside handrails. However, staff had budgeted the Coliseum to be at -$344,451 at this time, so it is doing $43,603 better than expected for the first six months. “We experienced a couple of shows in the second quarter that resulted in lower than expected performance at the box office.” said Bart Rogers Vice President of the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. “But the remaining schedule of events has some very strong performances and we hope to make it up during that time. Historically, our first six months have come in lower in comparison to our last six months, which is expected to have a large up-swing in revenue.” The Coliseum had a cumulative attendance of 48,134 from the events spanning August through October. The Bloomington Thunder professional hockey team opened their season in October versus their new rival the Peoria Rivermen in front of 4,306 fans. -

Korn’s cathartic alternative metal sound positioned the group among the most popular and provocative to emerge during the post-grunge era. Korn began their existence as the Bakersfield, California-based metal band LAPD, which included guitarists James “Munky” Shaffer and Brian “Head” Welch, bassist Reginald “Fieldy Snuts” Arvizu, and drummer David Silveria. After issuing an LP in 1993, the members of LAPD crossed paths with Jonathan Davis, a mortuary science student moonlighting as the lead vocalist for the local group Sexart. They soon asked Davis to join the band, and upon his arrival the quintet rechristened itself Korn. After signing to Epic’s Immortal imprint, they issued their debut album in late 1994; thanks to a relentless tour schedule that included stints opening for Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Marilyn Manson, and 311, the record slowly but steadily rose in the charts, eventually going gold. Its 1996 follow- up, Life Is Peachy, was a more immediate smash, reaching the number three spot on the pop album charts. The following summer, they headlined Lollapalooza, but were forced to drop off the tour when Shaffer was diagnosed with viral meningitis. While recording their best-selling 1998 LP Follow the Leader, Korn made national headlines when a student in Zeeland, Michigan, was suspended for wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the group’s logo (the school’s principal later declared their music “indecent, vulgar, and obscene,” prompting the band to issue a cease-and-desist order). -
