Today we stand here as an international family who in all its diversity, are united with our father and founder, and live with the Original Shrine, the place of grace of our Mother Thrice Admirable, Queen and Victress of Schoenstatt as its heart. These four jubilee days gives us the opportunity to have an intense encounter with the Original Shrine day and night. So that even here we can be and act as a family the walls of the Original Shrine have been extended to the Pilgrim Arena. We regard the Arena as our extended Original Shrine. At every ceremony and Holy mass we want to spiritually imagine ourselves directly in the Original Shrine. 5 Elements of our Pilgrimage to the Original Shrine Pilgrim Way to the Original Shrine The way: Different to all other times there will only be one way during the jubilee days to the Original Shrine. This is laid out as a pilgrim way and begins at the car park next to the Pilgrim - Info Form: On this pilgrim way to the original shrine you can do the following • Write your name in the founding document “My name, my covenant” • Buy candles and light them along the way in the chapel of light • Write down your contributions to the capital of grace and place them in the jar in the original shrine. • Check-out the wall of 200 shrines Pilgrim Park “in the shadow of the Shrine” The way: You make your way to the entrance gate behind the wall at the park. Please note that once you are on the park there is no entry to the Original Shrine from there. Form: The pilgrim park invites you to rest in silence and pray personally or in community, join in the international hymns, or simply just look and listen. There will be: - Music and hymns from all over the world, - The liturgy of hours will be recited in various languages - Rosary - Silence - Individual Blessing: Friday - Sunday, 12:00 - 15:00 Programme Thursday, 16 th October 2014 Open: 07:00 - 21:00 08:00 Pilgrim Morning Prayer 08:30 – 16:45 The nations make their pilgrimage to the Original Shrine 19:00 Serenade: “Love declaration to the shrine” – International Hymns 20:30 Evening Blessing 6 Friday, 17 th October 2014 Open: 07:30 – 21:30 09:00 Pilgrim Morning Prayer 21:00 Evening Blessing 21:30 Night of the Shrine – Youth Prayer Vigil Saturday, 18 th October 2014 Open: 06:30 - 21:00 08:00 - 08:20 “Madrugadores” Prayer Time 08:30 Pilgrim Morning Prayer 16:30 - 18:00 Covenant of Love Ceremony from 16:00 on The Original Shrine and Pilgrim Park will be closed off during this ceremony. • Our Faith in the School of Mary
IN MARY’S SCHOOL OF FAITH TODAY Introduction The Year of Faith opened by our meanwhile Pope emeritus Benedict XVI and continued by Pope Francis aims at the transmission of the faith in our secularized world. God’s providence foresaw a striking dynamic for this year commemorating the 50 th anniversary of Vatican Council II. From October to February we could attend lectures given by Benedict XVI. He taught us the content of faith and how to penetrate it with heart and mind. It appears that Pope Francis wants to send us to the areopaghi 1 of our times in order to become witnesses to the faith. A few days prior to the solemn opening of the Year of Faith the XIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops was launched. Synods can be likened to a graduate seminar, a think tank for the realities of the universal church. Last October the participants deliberated on how “The New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Christian Faith” can succeed in our time. At stake is not simply boosting Mass attendance or advocating regular prayer; although a sound spiritual life was, is and will always remain at the heart of being Christian. Yet, evangelization aims at engaging broad social and cultural challenges 2 through a distinctively Christlike lens. In other words, faith is authentic and attractive "when, through our actions, words and way of being, Another makes himself present.” 3 Ultimately, such a transformation is a gift of grace supported by an educational process. 4 With this paper we want to consider the Meaning of the Year of Faith from a Pedagogical Perspective.
