The Bluejays returned all five starters from a team that was ranked No. 7 following the abrupt ending of the 2019-20 season due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and started the 2020-21 campaign 11th in both the AP and coaches polls. With COVID-19 still running rampant, the start of the 2020-21 season was pushed back roughly three (22-9, 14-6 BIG EAST) weeks. The pandemic also eliminated virtually all international travel, and as a result CU’s long-anticipated trip to the Battle for Atlantis in the Bahamas instead moved to nearby Sioux Falls, S.D., where it was November (1-0) rebranded as the Crossover Classic. Days before CU was to start the season in Sioux Falls, the Bluejay pro- 29 NORTH DAKOTA STATE (FS1) W 69-58 gram had multiple positive COVID tests to Tier I individuals, which forced the program to withdraw from the Crossover Classic and temporarily halt practice to minimize the risk of the virus spreading. December (6-2) As a result, on November 25th Creighton announced it had added a game to its schedule, the regular- 1 NEBRASKA-OMAHA (FS1) W 94-67 season opener vs. North Dakota State, to be played on November 29th. (ESPN) L 72-73 Two days later, Creighton faced Nebraska-Omaha in the regular-season for the first time in 25 seasons 11 NEBRASKA (BTN) W 98-74 and defeated the Mavericks, 94-67. 14 MARQUETTE* (FS1) L 84-89 CU improved to 3-0 with a 93-58 victory vs. Kennesaw State before hitting the road for the first time on 17 at St. John’s* (FS1) W 94-76 Dec. 8 for a top-10 showdown at No. 5 Kansas. Playing inside historic Allen Fieldhouse, the game featured 20 at Connecticut* (FS1) W 76-74 (OT) nine ties and 13 lead changes before the host Jayhawks escaped, 73-72, when CU missed a potential 23 #22 XAVIER* (FS1) W 66-61 game-tying free throw with 1.1 seconds left. Damien Jefferson One day after the conclusion of the BIG EAST Tournament, Creighton earned an at-large berth to the Second Team All-BIG EAST NCAA Tournament, which was held in its entirety in Indianapolis this spring.

Amphitheatre kicked o its main-stage concert season March 1 with a sold-out show by Alabama, guests at the Florida venue couldn’t help but notice the changes. The 4,000-seat facility had been expanded by 700 seats, and a new food truck area provided fresh local options beyond the traditional concession stands. “We sell out a lot of our shows quickly, so we knew the demand was Athere and the ability to bring in bigger acts,” said Gabe Pellicer, assistant director of the venue and the adjacent Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, about the new seats. “We knew we had a lot of momentum, so we went for it.” The changes coincide with a rebranding for what’s now being called The Amp St. Augustine, including new graphics and brand colors and a fresh tagline — “Big Acts, Small Venue” — that echoes Pellicer’s words. The rebranding eorts are among a continuing eort to create a nationally known venue in a small market. “We felt like we ran into a fork in the road,” Pellicer said. “Do we create more revenue, more shows or a better experience? We’re a government-run venue that doesn’t have to chase prots, so we decided to make it the best we possibly could.” Owned and operated by the cultural events division of St. Johns County, The Amp hosts over 40 concerts and multiple community events annually, including the Saturday Farmers Market, held year-round, and the Sing Out Loud Festival, Florida’s largest free live entertainment festival and benet, held every weekend in September.
