PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Cleveland State University, Division of Student Affairs A public four year, institution with a total enrollment of 17,204 students, located in an urban environment. Interim Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, September, 2014 - Present Interim VP for Student Affairs/ of Students, September, 2013 – October, 2013 Associate Dean of Students for Student Life, January, 2012 – August, 2014  In the absence of the Vice President of Student Affairs, report directly to the & Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs on all issues related to the Department of Student Life and Division of Student Affairs.  Provide management and leadership to the Department of Student Life and the Division of Student Affairs, in the development, implementation and ongoing enhancement of departmental goals, strategic plans, procedure development and revision and resource allocation. Responsible for budgets totaling more than $7.5 million.  Provide supervision for the following programmatic areas: Student Engagement ( & Sorority Life, Service & Leadership); Student Activities & Events; Student Organizations; Health & Wellness (Counseling, Testing, Health Center, & Disability Services); Veterans Student Success; Women’s Center; and Judicial Affairs.  Coordinate the Division of Student Affairs marketing and outreach strategies. Coordinate related marketing and public relations efforts utilizing publications, newsletters, and other media.  Coordinate division wide assessments, and professional staff development.  Manage the creation and development of departmental programs and services. Develop short-and long-term plans that support the mission, goals and objectives of the department and CSU. Establish departmental goals, policies, procedures and standards.  Conduct welfare check on distressed students; meet with students to help them address personal, social, academic problems, and issues. Implement established protocol in the case of a CSU student death.  Coordinate the CARE Team, comprised of representatives from University Police, Counseling and Testing, Disability Services, Residence Life, Campus Support Services, International Services, and Judicial Affairs.  Supervise assigned personnel by providing orientation, guidance, assistance and professional development as required. Approve or make recommendations regarding employment, performance appraisals, salary changes, promotions, transfers, and terminations.  Serve as University liaison to faith-based communities, Department of Residence Life, Center for International Services & Programs, and Inclusion & Multicultural Engagement.

The University of Georgia, Division of Student Affairs A large public, comprehensive, four year institution with total enrollment of 34,885 students. Associate Dean of Students, Director of Intercultural Affairs, August 2010-December 2011 Interim Associate Dean of Students for Intercultural Affairs, January 2010-August 2010  Provided vision, leadership, budgetary direction and administrative supervision to four units comprising Intercultural Affairs: Life, Multicultural Services and Programs, the African American Cultural Center, and the LGBT Resource Center. The unit employed thirteen fulltime employees and seven graduate assistants. The annual budget totaled over $893,000, which included salaries, operating and programming budgets.  Motivated and supported staff members in the development of programs and services for the community, which were geared towards the goals of: community building, advocacy, social justice and diversity education, cultural competence, leadership and the development of global citizens.  Worked with units across campus and the Athens-Clarke County community to promote the philosophy of Intercultural Affairs which included: student academic and social success, building a community of respect, understanding and inclusion; fostering meaningful partnerships with faculty, staff and the local community for the betterment of the University of Georgia.  Served as departmental representative and spokesperson to various campus and community organizations and committees.

Director of Campus Life & Tate Student Center, July 2005-December 2009 Interim Director of Student Activities & Tate Student Center, July 2004-July 2005  Developed a strong and active Student Life program through the supervision of multiple units, which included: the Campus Life Business Office; the Center for Leadership and Service; Facilities & Services; Marketing & Communications; Greek Life Office; and Student Activities and Organizations. Worked with unit heads in planning, implementing, coordinating, interpreting and evaluating goals, policies, programs and budgets for Campus Life programs and services.  Directed the program, budget and facilities of the Department of Campus Life and the Tate Student Center. The budget for the Department of Campus Life totaled over $14 million, which was funded through student activity fee dollars and generated revenue from services provided by the Department of Campus Life. The department employed a professional and support staff of 65 full-time employees and over 200 student employees.  Coordinated the Tate Student Center Renovation & Expansion project, which included an additional 100,000 sq. feet of student center space, a 500+space parking deck and totaled $60.2 million. The expansion included a 12,000 sq. foot multipurpose space, four additional food retailers, lounge seating, six additional meeting rooms and a multifunctional study/student/game room and lounge. Additional responsibilities included working with the Tate Student Center Advisory Board consisting of ten students, faculty and staff from across campus in developing and refining policies and procedures for the Department of Campus Life and Tate Student Center.

 Served on the Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT) and work collaboratively with other departments within Student Affairs, the campus and community to promote student learning. Serve as departmental representative and spokesperson to various campus and community organizations and committees.

Assistant Director for Student Activities, July 2000-July 2004  Supervised and directed the Programming Office which included two professional staff members, two support staff members and four graduate assistants. Advised the Executive Board of WUOG, 90.5FM, the student run, 26,000-watt radio station. Served as advisor for over 200 student volunteers in the following areas: disc jockeys, music, news, publications, publicity, public affairs, and local music. Advised the Executive Board of the University Union Student Programming Board, the All Campus Homecoming Committee in planning annual Homecoming events. Provided oversight for budgets of the University Union, All Campus Homecoming Committee and WUOG, 90.5FM totaling more than $550,000.00. Coordinated staff selection, training and leadership retreats for the University Union, WUOG, 90.5FM and All Campus Homecoming Committee.

Program Advisor, University Union, July 1995-July 2001  Advised the University Union and its specialized divisions: Cinematic Arts, the Committee for Black Cultural Programs, Ideas & Issues, Summer Programs, Visual Arts and Entertainment Divisions. Co-advised the Board of Governors (BOG) in the development of the total Union program, as well as Union policies, procedures, selection and training. Negotiated terms and conditions of contracts with various national talent agencies. Prepared and managed budgets totaling over $250,000. Developed, administered, and analyzed evaluations of programs. Delegated responsibilities to over 200 student volunteers. Selected, trained and supervised one graduate assistant.
