A Newsle loyees tter for City of San Marcos Emp June 2015 Scott King Wins the Moten Award By Megan Willis, Electrical Engineering Technician This year’s Moten Award winner is Scott King, Electric Distribution Manager. Scott helped implement the North- west Lineman’s College Lineworker Certification Program for the San Marcos Electric Utility (SMEU) maintenance crews. This program is used as the curriculum component of apprenticeship leading to journeyman certification and is recognized by utility company associations and statewide organizations. On-the-job training is the other component of this certification program. Upon successful completion of both the curriculum and the on-the-job training com- ponents, employees will earn Northwest Lineman College certification. The program takes four years to complete.
