We know that the comic book world has many more superheroes and villains than we could possibly fit in a six-week course. That’s why we want to give you a chance to create your own superhero dossier. In this companion to The Rise of Superheroes & Their Impact on Pop Culture, we will lead you through the process of compiling a dossier of a character of your choice in the same style you saw in the course’s Superhero Biographies. You’ll give the character’s basic information (name, aliases, enemies, etc.) Next, you’ll share a signature quote from that character. You’ll explain the important social issues and historical events going on at the time of the character’s creation. (This is where all that research you’ve done over the course will kick in!) Finally, you’ll select a scene from one of your character’s comic books that explains who he or she is and why he or she is so important to the history of comics. It’s up to you to select who you want to write about. Choose from any genre - comic book, graphic novels, manga - and any kind of character - superhero or villain. It’s up to you. It’s your turn to play professor and educate us! Turn to the next slide for instructions to get started… 2 THE RISE OF SUPERHEROES AND THEIR IMPACT ON POP CULTURE // SUPERHERO DOSSIER INSTRUCTIONS Before you begin, you should name your dossier. We recommend the following format: Lastname_Firstname_SuperheroDossier If you haven’t done so, go back to Slide 1 and enter your name and email in the fields marked “Click to add text”. Simply click inside each field and begin typing. Next, move forward to slide 5 to get started on your own Superhero Dossier. BE CREATIVE! Smithsonian wants to see your original ideas as well as a high quality of research. Include interesting and perhaps little known facts in the origin portion of your dossier. Think outside the box about the social issues and historical events that affected your subject. Was there something perhaps less obvious that was going on in the world at the time your subject was active? Feel free to find images and information on the Internet. We’ve added a references page to the end of this notebook for you to list all of your sources. If you want to create an original image of your subject, you’re welcome to! Just note that the image is your creation. Turn to the next page for some inspiration... 3 THE RISE OF SUPERHEROES AND THEIR IMPACT ON POP CULTURE // SUPERHERO DOSSIER DOSSIER INSPIRATION Below is a list of the Superhero Biographies that were included in the course materials. Go back and read through them if you’re looking for a little inspiration while researching and writing your own Superhero Dossier. We’ve also included a few links to resources to help you find a character you might want to do some more in depth research on. Add an image of the social issue below. SOCIAL ISSUES/HISTORICAL EVENTS “The ocean is not ours, and no matter how great our technology, we will never master it as we have mastered land, but Aquaman has. Through this lonely ocean wanderer, we can experience a world that we can never truly command. In many ways, Aquaman was stronger than the Man of Steel and darker than the Dark Knight. He knew loneliness that the orphan and the alien exile never could.” Aquaman has never hesitated to champion the oceans and its inhabitants. He sees and lives the devastation caused by poachers, offshore drilling, and even overfishing. Although his methods to stop some of the events may seem harsh (such as throwing a polar bear at the poachers), his heart and his intentions are of protection. Inevitably, man’s greed changes/ impacts Aquaman’s relationships with some humans. He partners with the Justice League to continue to protect both worlds. He was one of the original seven, which included: Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman. He always has his environment and people coming first. He may be the world’s most underrated superhero, but personally, I count him as one of the best. His resurrection begins again with Jason Momoa in Unite the Seven, (although there are rumors he has dropped out of the movie.) There is also a planned solo Aquaman movie in 2018.

Chapter 7: CONVENTIONAL EXPLOSIONS AND BLAST INJURIES David J. Dries, MSE, MD, FCCM David Bracco, MD, EDIC, FCCM Tarek Razek, MD Norma Smalls-Mantey, MD, FACS, FCCM Dennis Amundson, DO, MS, FCCM Objectives ■ Describe the mechanisms of injury associated with conventional explosions. ■ Outline triage strategies and markers of severe injury in patients wounded in conventional explosions. ■ Explain the general principles of critical care and procedural support in mass casualty incidents caused by conventional explosions. ■ Discuss organ-specific support for victims of conventional explosions. Case Study Construction workers are using an acetylene/oxygen mixture to do some welding work in a crowded nearby shopping mall. Suddenly, an explosion occurs, shattering windows in the mall and on the road. The acetylene tank seems to be at the origin of the explosion. The first casualties arrive at the emergency department in private cars and cabs. They state that at the scene, blood and injured people are everywhere. - What types of patients do you expect? - How many patients do you expect? - When will the most severely injured patients arrive? - What is your triage strategy, and how will you triage these patients? - How do you initiate care in victims of conventional explosions? Fundamental Disaster Management I . I N T R O D U C T I O N Detonation of small-volume, high-intensity explosives is a growing threat to civilian as well as military populations. Understanding circumstances surrounding conventional explosions helps with rapid triage and recognition of factors that contribute to poor outcomes. Rapid evacuation of salvageable victims and swift identification of life-threatening injuries allows for optimal resource utilization and patient management.

A R C H O N S HIDDEN RULERS THROUGH THE AGES A R C H O N S HIDDEN RULERS THROUGH THE AGES WATCH THIS IMPORTANT VIDEO UFOs, Aliens, and the Question of Contact MUST-SEE THE OCCULT REASON FOR PSYCHOPATHY Organic Portals: Aliens and Psychopaths KNOWLEDGE THROUGH GNOSIS Boris Mouravieff - GNOSIS IN THE BEGINNING ...1 The Gnostic core belief was a strong dualism: that the world of matter was deadening and inferior to a remote nonphysical home, to which an interior divine spark in most humans aspired to return after death. This led them to an absorption with the Jewish creation myths in Genesis, which they obsessively reinterpreted to formulate allegorical explanations of how humans ended up trapped in the world of matter. The basic Gnostic story, which varied in details from teacher to teacher, was this: In the beginning there was an unknowable, immaterial, and invisible God, sometimes called the Father of All and sometimes by other names. “He” was neither male nor female, and was composed of an implicitly finite amount of a living nonphysical substance. Surrounding this God was a great empty region called the Pleroma (the fullness). Beyond the Pleroma lay empty space. The God acted to fill the Pleroma through a series of emanations, a squeezing off of small portions of his/its nonphysical energetic divine material. In most accounts there are thirty emanations in fifteen complementary pairs, each getting slightly less of the divine material and therefore being slightly weaker. The emanations are called Aeons (eternities) and are mostly named personifications in Greek of abstract ideas.

  • Batman Miniature Game Teams
TEAMS IN Gotham MAY 2020 v1.2 Teams represent an exciting new addition to the Batman Miniature Game, and are a way of creating themed crews that represent the more famous (and infamous) groups of heroes and villains in the DC universe. Teams are custom crews that are created using their own rules instead of those found in the Configuring Your Crew section of the Batman Miniature Game rulebook. In addition, Teams have some unique special rules, like exclusive Strategies, Equipment or characters to hire. CONFIGURING A TEAM First, you must choose which team you wish to create. On the following pages, you will find rules for several new teams: the Suicide Squad, Bat-Family, The Society, and Team Arrow. Models from a team often don’t have a particular affiliation, or don’t seem to have affiliations that work with other members, but don’t worry! The following guidelines, combined with the list of playable characters in appropriate Recruitment Tables, will make it clear which models you may include in your custom crew. Once you have chosen your team, use the following rules to configure it: • You must select a model to be the Team’s Boss. This model doesn’t need to have the Leader or Sidekick Rank – s/he can also be a Free Agent. See your team’s Recruitment Table for the full list of characters who can be recruited as your team’s Boss. • Who is the Boss in a Team? 1. If there is a model with Boss? Always present, they MUST be the Boss, regardless of a rank.
