Detroit is a large metropolitan area of approximately 4,200,000 persons located in the southeastern sector of Michigan. Detroit has a well diversified, industrially oriented economy. However, its major economic strength still rests in the auto­ mobile and automobile related businesses. These businesses con­ cern production, service and sales and give the population of the city a wide diversity of interests and abilities. Funda­ mentally, Detroit is considered a working city. RALPH J. STEPHENSON CONSULTING ENGINEER The potential in Detroit for Multi Cinema is good in some areas but very poor in others. Successful penetration will probably be best gained by locating in presently unfulfilled theater market areas.
