  • 1914 Fourth Annual Meeting
TRANSACTIONS OF THE North Carolina Health Officers' Association FOURTH ANNUAL SESSION Raleigh, N. C., Monday, June 15, 1914 TRANSACTIONS OF THE North Carolina Health Officers' Association FOURTH ANNUAL SESSION ADDRESS OF WELCOME. MR. CLARENCE POE. That welcome is most genuine about which least needs to be said. So my only purpose this morning is just to tell you how glad your capital city is to have this progressive body of men here. Fifth annual session will be held in Greensboro, third Monday in June, 1915. The fact is, we are always glad to see the doctors. If we are sick, Mr. Roosevelt' s most emphatic " Dee -lighted" is not enough to express OFFICERS. our pleasure, and when we are well we welcome them as about our most DR. Was. M. JONES, President, Greensboro. delightful citizens. DR. D. E. SEVIER, Vice -President, Asheville. I really count it a great honor to have the privilege of welcoming DR. W. S. RANKTN, Secretary -Treasurer, Raleigh. you here. There is nothing North Carolina has accomplished in recent years that I am prouder of than her leadership in the Whole -Time County Health Officer movement. I am proud to see on the Confeder- ate monument out there mention of things our forefathers did years ago. " First at Bethel, Farthest to the. Front at Gettsburg" and so on; but it is a great deal more important' for some of us sons to make records; and " First in County Health Officer work and Farthest to the Front in Hookworm Eradication" looks good to me. I hope this County Health Officer movement will have the same rapid success the Hook- worm Extermination work has had.

  • Turtle Rock Guitar Book 5.Pdf
Preface to the 5th Edition This book and the Guitar Club that went with it started because one of my old counsellors put a few guitar chords into the official camp song book. Those chords were the reason I learned to play. That summer, when we were last-year campers, regular activities were cancelled one day because of stormy weather. We all piled into the lodge, where we sat with Ryley and her guitar, singing all afternoon. It was the first time a lot of us had ever sung our favourite camp songs with a guitar. At the time, I'd never even heard recordings of most of them. (This is before Napster, kids.) I remain ever thankful that we didn't play Rainy Day Bingo that afternoon. At the end of the summer I started writing in chords for the rest of the song book, which gradually led to the first edition of The Mi-A-Kon-Da Guitar Book. Since then, this book's seen a few new places and met a lot of new songs. It seemed about time to give it a name that would bring everything and everyone together. Turtle Rock does just this. On Birch Island, it's where the whole camp meets after lights out on Mi-A-Kon-Da night to sing quiet songs by the fire, listen to the camp legend, and watch the full moon rise over the lake. It's also where we meet for special cook-outs, reflections, and early in the morning to watch that bittersweet Last Sunrise of the Summer.

House of Fellowship Song Book 1 6 I Believe God The Water Way Key of A Key of F I believe God! I believe God! Long ago the maids drew water Ask what you will and it shall be done; In the evening time, they say Trust and obey, believe Him and say: One day Isaac sent his servant I believe, I believe God. To stop Rebekah on her way "My master sent me here to tell thee; And if you want salvation now See these jewels rich and rare; And the Holy Ghost and power, Would'st thou not his lovely bride be Just trust and obey, In that country over there?" Believe Him and say: I believe, I believe God. CHORUS It shall be light in the evening time, 2 The path to glory you will surely find; Reach Out, Touch The Lord Thru the water way, It is the light today, Key of F Buried in the precious Name of Jesus. Young and old, repent of all your sin, Reach out and touch the Lord The Holy Ghost will surely enter in; As He goes by, The evening Light has come, You'll find He's not too busy, It is a fact that God and Christ are one. To hear your heart's cry; He's passing by this moment, So, God's servants come to tell you Your needs to supply, Of a Bridegroom in the sky Reach out and touch the Lord Looking for a holy people As He goes by. To be his bride soon, by and by He sends to us refreshing water 3 In this wondrous latter day Feeling So Much Better They who really will be raptured Key of F Must go thru the water way Feeling so much better Are you on your way to ruin Talking about this good old Way, Cumbered with a load of care Feeling so much better See the quick work God is doing Talking about the Lord; That so his glory you may share Let's go on, let's go on At last the faith he once delivered Talking about this good old Way, To the saints, is ours today Let's go on, let's go on To get in the church triumphant Talking about the Lord.

Sc.48 p788 KF: Ralph finds Ed III a man after his own heart. The king loves to fight. On the campaign, he is always ready to lead a sortie or raiding party, risking his own life without balancing cost and benefit. His appetite for violence is insatiable. His army spares no one, not even priests and nuns, as they rob, rape and burn the countryside. The older knights and earls have commented on his brutality, protesting for example about the systematic rape of the women of Caen, but Edward refused to do anything. When he was told that some of the citizens of that town had thrown stones at soldiers who were ransacking their homes, he ordered that everyone in the town should be killed and the town burned, and only relented when Sir Godfrey de Harcourt protested. See Mortimer, p229. When the campaign is over, as soon as he gets home he will start organising mock wars-tournaments-with armies of knights in expensive specially-made costumes. He holds several of these a year. KF: The king's army had got close enough to Paris to attack it, but Edward had backed away. Perhaps he flinched from attacking a city with an adult male population of fifty thousand. (He had visited Paris in his youth so he knew it.) By now, the Parisians would have heard what had happened in Caen, and would know that the arrival of the English king meant wholesale murder, rape and looting; so they would fight fiercely to defend their homes and families.
