This report parallels and complements our 2012 Annual Report. This report is written in accordance to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3.1 Guidelines and GRI’s Airport Operators Sector Supplement (AOSS). The content of this report has been verified by an independent external agency to ensure accuracy and reliability of this report. The third party verification institution has assured that the report conforms to the “C+” application level of the G3.1 and AOSS guidelines. In order to avoid duplication of information, some requirements of GRI are reported in our 2012 Annual Report as indicated in our GRI Index on Page 29. This report also reflects Malaysia Airports’ activities in relations to ISO9001, OHSAS18001 and ISO14001 standards where applicable. -

MEDIA RELEASE MASwings to Service on KUCHING - SIBU Route during Nationwide Movement Control Order Period 15 April 2020, Kota Kinabalu: MASWings is pleased to announce its services on KUCHING (KCH) - SIBU (SBW) vice versa routes with effect from 16 April 2020. This is in response to the request made by Sarawak Government recently to MASwings sister company Malaysia Airlines seeking for reinstatement of Malaysia Airlines one-time weekly flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Miri and subsequently a connection from Kuching to Sibu. MASwings being airline for the people in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan FT is fulfilling its obligation to ensure air connectivity is available especially in providing for essential travels and services during the current Movement Control Order (MCO) period. A total of 783 complaints were registered with MAVCOM for the period 1 July to 31 December 2019, with 751 complaints on airlines and 32 on airports. This is a decrease of 4.7% as compared to the period 1 July to 31 December 2018, when MAVCOM registered 822 complaints. 98.6% of the complaints received for the period 1 July to 31 December 2019 have been resolved and closed by MAVCOM. Mishandled baggage, processing of refunds and flight delay issues represent 51.9% of the nature of complaints received by MAVCOM during this period. Through the Commission’s review of the complaints for the period 1 July to 31 December 2019, 51.0% of the complaints resulted in the airlines reversing its initial decision and producing a resolution that is more equitable or satisfactory to the consumer than initially provided. -

15TH INTERNATIONAL PEAT CONGRESS 2016 Abstract No: A-306 PEAT AND ORGANIC SOILS CHALLENGES IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN SARAWAK: JKR SARAWAK EXPERIENCE Vincent Tang Chok Khing Public Works Department Sarawak *Corresponding author: [email protected] SUMMARY Road construction on peat/organic soils has always posed challenges to Engineers, Contractors and policy-makers, be it a technical, contractual obligation, or cost implication. The success of road construction on soft soils relies on various important factors such as proper planning, analysis, design, construction, control and supervision. For Engineers, the primary boundary conditions are the stability and allowable settlement in terms of serviceability limits both as a function of time. Our current observation reveals that many of the road embankments and culvert foundation failures are associated with geotechnical factors. Majority of these failures are still repeating and quite identical / similar in nature that they are caused by failure to comply with one or a combination of the above factors. This paper presents some of the case histories of the road embankment construction closely related to the geotechnical factors investigated by the Author. Lastly, some simple guidelines on Method of Treatment, Cost and Design Principle to prevent future embankment failures related to geotechnical factors on soft ground are presented. INTRODUCTION Sarawak has approximately 1.7 million ha of tropical peat that covers 13% of the total land area (12.4 million ha.). It is the largest area of peatland in Malaysia. It constitutes nearly 63% of the total peatland of the country. More than 80% of the peats are more than 2.5 m depth. -

The aim of this fieldwork is Received 04 January 2019 to synthesize the observations of structure and sedimentology of outcrops along Bintulu-Niah-Miri areas and Accepted 07 February 2019 discuss the implication of reservoir characteristics based on observation. KEMENTERIAN PENGANGKUTAN MALAYSIA ___________________________________________________________________ Monday, 13 April 2020 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PRESS RELEASE MINISTER OF TRANSPORT TOPIC: MAS RESUMING LIMITED FLIGHT SERVICES TO SABAH AND SARAWAK The Ministry of Transport acknowledges the Sarawak Government’s request that flights between Peninsular Malaysia and the state continue to operate, as noted by Sarawak’s Minister of Tourism, Art, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah in a statement today (13 April). The Ministry had not issued any instructions to airlines such as Malaysia Airlines (MAB), AirAsia or Malindo to suspend their flights to Sarawak and Sabah. On March 26, 2020, AirAsia Group Berhad issued a statement announcing a temporary suspension of all international and domestic flights designated ‘AK’ from March 28 to April 28, 2020. In the same statement, AirAsia assured that the decision was also made in order to ensure the well-being of passengers and employees as the country grapples with the Covid-19 pandemic. MAB has also halted their operations following drastic drop in passenger load to 10% - 15% on their flights. That difficult decision was made after MAB suffered significant losses which could have led to more dire consequences if flight operations were to continue. 1 Nonetheless, the Ministry of Transport has requested that MAB and AirAsia reconsider their respective decisions and reopen flight services to Sabah and Sarawak. Following my discussion with MAB’s senior management, the airline has assured that it would continue the following services to Sabah and Sarawak: 1. KL - Kuching - KL: 1 flight per week 2. We choose MAS Airlines as our targeted company in this project due to the huge information can be accessed on the Internet and the issues that go through by MAS Airlines in this few years. We have accessed the current issue faced by our targeted company, MAS Airlines. According to our research, we found out that the company is having difficulties in competing with the competitors, facing unprofitability and failed to turnover and managing its technical capacity. Problems identified were flight MH001, an Airbus from London to Malaysia which forced to turn back more than an hour, MH134 which returned to Brisbane due to misplacement of plastic covers and the emergency landing of MH122. We followed our findings by investigating the reasons for those tragedies from happening. Since the airline had undergone top management handover, the company is obviously struggling with staff engagement. From a factual perspective, the airline is currently experiencing losses continuously for 3 years which ended up with dramatic RM1 billion losses when implementing a restructuring plan. High operation expenditure such as excessive high salary paid to top management is believed to be the dominating cause. Besides, extreme cash outflow due to the purchase of an aircraft was also regarded as a bad investment. -
