Info: Tel: (01542) 831798, 18 holes (Par 69), Links - 5,977 yards - http://www.strathlenegolfclub.co.uk/ Beskrivelse: Strathlene is one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland first established in 1877. The ground was gifted to the town by Mr Bryson the factor of Seafield Estates at that time. The original 9 holes were created between Portessie and Strathlene House, where 2 of the holes were situated in the area which is now the Caravan Site. The original clubhouse was situated at the entrance to Portessie railway Station. In 1936 the course was extended to 18 holes with the purchase of ground on the headland between Strathlene and the village of Findochty, and was designed by Mr George Smith of Lossiemouth. Strathlene is an interesting cliff top Links type course. Every hole has its own characteristics, of undulating fairways, gully’s and elevated greens, making the most of the natural contours of the land. 4 of the original holes make up an enjoyable finish to the round . Strathlene is a fine test of golf for all levels of golfer, with its breathtaking views of the Moray Firth, The Dolphins and the surrounding countryside .It is a classic in a great location with a par of 69 and 5977 yards in length. The fourth hole, a 210 yrd Par 3, with an uphill drive to a green situated on the Law Hill is certainly worthy of mention. Info: Tel: 01340 820325, Heath / Parkland - 5,308 yards, Par 67, www.dufftowngolfclub.com Beskrivelse: Dufftown golf club's 18 hole course is to be found one mile south of Dufftown on the B9009 Tomintoul Road. One hour drive from Aberdeen and Inverness Airports. The course is set in the heart of the Whisky distilling Speyside area among the hills. Every hole has different playing tactics due to the undulation of the Course and has wonderful scenery from every fairway. The 9th tee is one of the highest above sea level in UK being 1294ft above sea level and the clubhouse sits at 795ft. The 10th tee has a magnificent view of the town and has a vertical drop of 339ft from tee to green. Both the 7th hole, short - 67 yards and the 10th feature in Britain's 100 Extraordinary Golf Holes published by Geoff Harvey and Vanessa Stroweger, the Club are very proud of this honour. Visitors return regularly to enjoy this amazing Banffshire Golf Course set amongst hills, heather and distilleries. We are on The Malt Whisky Trail and many visitors incorporate the golf along with Castle and Distillery visits as well as hill walking during their vacation to this area. 14:30 - 19:00 Eftermiddag fri. -- Balgownie Links, Links Road, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen AB23 8AT 11:12 - 15:42 Royal Aberdeen Golf Course -- Greenfee 80£ Royal Aberdeen - 6th the oldest Golf Club in the world - is a true Scottish links with undulating fairways and enjoys spectacular views of the North Sea coastline. The course was originally designed by the Simpson brothers, Archie and Robert, and was later re-bunkered and lengthened by James Braid. The 8th hole - The Signature Hole at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club. Surrounded by 10 bunkers, played from an elevated tee. Depending on the wind direction you can use every club in the bag. At only 147 yards, a very demanding par 3. The Club House maintains the traditional ambience of a gentleman's club with a formal lounge, formal dining room, casual lounge and casual dining area. Info: Tel: (01224) 702571, Balgownie Championship Links 6,415 yards - 6,850 yards, Par 70, SSS 73, http://www.royalaberdeengolf.com Beskrivelse: The course runs essentially out and back along the North Sea shore. The outward nine (which is arguably acknowledged as one of the finest in links golf anywhere in the world) cuts its way through some wonderful dune formation and the inland nine on the plateau. A traditional old Scottish links, it is well bunkered with undulating fairways. It is an excellent balance of holes, strong par 4's, tricky par 3's and two classic par 5's, with the 8th (our signature hole) protected by 10 bunkers. The ever changing wind, tight greens and a magnificent finish makes Balgownie a test for the very best. Club History: Founded in 1780, Royal Aberdeen is the sixth oldest golf club in the world. For the first thirty five years of its existence the club was known as The Society of Golfers at Aberdeen, with membership of the Society being determined by ballot. The Aberdeen Golf Club was formed in 1815 and its members continued to play on the Queen's Links and over the Broad Hill until 1888 when they picked up their hickory clubs and gutty balls and migrated to the magnificent links at Balgownie. It was Captain H V Brooke in 1886 who moved that 'considering the way that the links was being cut up by cricket and football players, a private course at Balgownie should be procured for golfing purposes'. Less than two years later, with very little ado the Aberdeen Golfers "folded their tents and silently stole away" to the peaceful seclusion of Balgownie Links. 16:00 - 22:00 Eftermiddagen er fri. Vi anbefaler Sightseeing i Aberdeen med Middag. www.slicinghookers.dk 27. maj - 03. juni 3 Scotland Tour 2006 30. maj 2006 07:30 - 08:00 Morgenmad 08:00 - 09:00 Transport 60 min. -- The Barnyards, Banff, AB45 3SX 09:36 - 14:06 Duff House Royal Golf Course Banen ligger i byen Banff 12 miles øst for Cullen. Info: Tel: (01261) 812062, 18 holes (Par 68), Parkland - 6,161 yards, http://www.theduffhouseroyalgolfclub.co.uk/ Beskrivelse: The original Duff House Golf Club was formally constituted on 1st March 1910 to a plan by the late James Braid. The brilliant Golf Architect Dr. Alister Mackenzie (who later went on to design the World famous "Augusta National") redesigned the course in 1923. The course is a flat, beautifully manicured parkland course with little rough. The large "Mackenzie" two- tiered greens, many well positioned bunkers and trees make the course a severe but fair challenge to golfers of all abilities. The Course is bounded by the River Deveron, which proves to be a hazard for those who wander off the tee at the 7th, 16th and 17th holes. Practice ground, pitching area and putting green are available to visitors. The professional has a well-stocked shop and private tuition is available by appointment. The clubhouse has a large comfortable bar and lounge area, offering commanding views over the first and eighteenth holes with the Hill of Doune and the River Deveron as a backdrop. Full catering facilities are available. 15:00 - 19:30 Eftermiddag fri. Ekstra 18 huller på Duff House Royal Golf Club er valgfri.

  • 1983 Jan 4 the 'Advertiser' Takes a Look Forward and Back
1983 Jan 4 The ‘Advertiser’ takes a look forward and back - In February Thorn Lighting paid off 56 workers to reduce the workforce to 215. Mr Charles Brown, manager, said that there were no signs of improvements and the most that they could forward to was for the factory to continue at its present level. The FMA owned Herd & Mackenzie shipyard paid off 16 workers, of all trades, at the beginning of December to reduce the workforce to 76. The firm was presently working on a 75-foot seiner/trawler but had no further orders. Ian Sinclair, manager said that they would need another two orders to retain the same size of workforce over the next 18 months. Jones’ Shipyard do not have a boat to build at present but with repairs they are just able to tick over and are hopeful of receiving an order in the near future. The electrical firm of Thain and Davidson were considerably more upbeat when they were approached. During the past year the firm had won and started work on several major contracts including the electrical installation of a 60-bed unit at Montfield Hospital in Lerwick costing £300,000. They also gained a £100,000 contract for electrification of a new bulk fuel installation at RAF Kinloss. Brian Davidson who became the sole owner of the firm in July said that during the year they had been able to take on five apprentices since we are fairly well off for work and it is fine to have been able to provide some employment.
