Edmunds M.Sc. P.Geo. B.G. Kay B.Sc. GIT Northgate Minerals Corp. 2004 Exploration Program 0 1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This report details exploration work carried out during the 2004 summer season on the Brenda Property, north-central B.C., by Northgate Minerals Corp. Total expenditures for the season are $246,680. The Brenda Property is subject to an Option and Joint Venture agreement with Canasil Resources Inc. At completion of the 2004 program, Northgate elected not to renew the agreement, and has returned the property to Canasil. The Brenda Property is located in the mountainous area east of the Spatsizi Plateau and west of the Swannell Ranges near Thutade Lake. It is approximately 270kms north of Smithers and 450kms northwest of Prince George and lies in the Omineca Mining Division. The Brenda property is underlain by upper Triassic (Takla Group) andesitelbasaltic volcanics and lower Jurassic (Hazleton Group, Toodoggone Formation) dacitic fragmental volcanics. Stocks, dykes and possible sills of quartz monzonitelquartz diorite composition have intruded the succession and are likely also lower Jurassic in age (ArIAr date in progress). Structurally the deposit area is transected by steeply dipping north to northwest trending normal faults. Porphyry style AuICu mineralization occurs within the Takla volcanic rocks and 0 intermediate intrusive rocks associated with weak to pervasive propyllitic, potassic and locally stronger phyllic alteration assemblages. The goal of the 2004 drill program was to extend strike length and depth on the NW-SE trending mineralization intercepted in the White Pass zone in 2003. The plan required step-outs north and south from BR-03-06 and 07, and stepping back from the interpreted trend to build depth extent. The 2004 Brenda exploration was carried out as a two-phase, 5 hole, diamond drill program totaling 1446 meters drilled between July 7 and September 15'~2004. The 2004 exploration program proved that the White Pass zone can be modeled with some degree of certainty, and that mineralization occurs over a strike length now tested up to 520m, and to depth of 450m. Gold mineralization is reasonably evenly distributed and averages in the 0.5 glt area while copper grades are negligible. 1 Northgate Minerals Corp . 2004 Exploration Program Table of Contents 1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY ................................................................................ 2 2.0 INTRODUCTION ..............................................................................................4 3.0 LOCATION AND ACCESS ..............................................................................4 4.0 CLAIM DATA ....................................................................................................5 5.0 DISTRICT EXPLORATION AND MINING HISTORY .................................. 6 6.0 REGIONAL GEOLOGY .................................................................................... 7 7.0 STRUCTURAL SETTING............................................................................... 8 8.0 PROPERTY GEOLOGY ..................................................................................10 8.1 INTRODUCTION ........................................................................................ 10 8.2 LITHOLOGY ............................................................................................... 10 8.3 STRUCTURE ...............................................................................................12 8.4 ALTERATION AND MINERALIZATION ................................................ 12 9.0 2004 EXPLORATION PROGRAM ................................................................. 12 9.1 HOLE DESCRIPTIONS............................................................................... 14 9.2 METHODOLOGY .......................................................................................18 10.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS ........................................... 19 11.0 STATEMENT OF COSTS ............................................................................... 19 12.0 STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS ..........................................................20 ,! ,! The Brenda Property is subject to an Option and Joint Venture agreement with Canasil Resources Inc. Under this agreement, Northgate can earn a 60% interest by staged payments totaling $140,000 and exploration expenditures totaling $2,000,000 over 4 years. At completion of the 2004 program, Northgate elected not to renew the agreement, and has returned the property to Canasil. 3.0 LOCATION AND ACCESS The Brenda Property is located in the mountainous area east of the Spatsizi Plateau and west of the Swannell Ranges near Thutade Lake approximately 270kms north of Smithers and 450kms northwest of Prince George at 57'16' north latitude and 126'52' west longitude. The property, shown in Figure 1, spans the boundary between the 94E and 94D NTS sheets and lies in the Omineca Mining Division. BRITISH COLUMBIA VICTORIA OMKm Figure 1 Brenda Property Location Map (Pautler, 2003) Northgate Minerals Corp. 2004 Exploration Program Access to the project is provided by both air and road. There are regularly scheduled year-round flights from Vancouver, Smithers, and Prince George to 0 Kemess Mine. Road access is available from the town of Mackenzie or Ft.
