FootGolf is a combination of soccer and golf. It is played by kicking a soccer ball on a golf course with the objective of getting the ball into an oversized, 21-inch diameter hole in the fewest amount of kicks. Why Play FootGolf? Lots of reasons! Anyone can do it! You just have to be able to kick a ball. It’s fun for the whole family. Other than a soccer ball, no equipment is needed. It’s great exercise. It’s perfect for unit PT, as well as social and team-building activities. It’s for both recreational and competitive players. It’s quick -- players can play an 18-hole course in 2 hours. May I play with any ball? FootGolf is played with a soccer ball (Reg. FIFA soccer ball #5 or #4). Do I need a soccer ball to play? A FootGolfer may bring his/her own soccer ball or rent one in the Pro Shop. Do you walk or use a cart? Both walking and carts are allowable; carts are available for rent. For some players, it may be quicker to walk because you are not kicking the ball hundreds of yards. Walking also increases the exercise and endurance component of the game. FootGolfers can play 18 holes in approximately 2 hours, versus 4½ hours for golf. Are their age restrictions to play at FootGolf? You must be at least 6 years of age to play FootGolf at Paradise Point Golf Course. Do I have to make a tee time? Tee times aren’t required, but are encouraged to insure you and your group are able to tee off at your desired time. Your ball must be easy to identify. 2.) Kick off your ball from the position up to two ball lengths behind the markers. 3.) The ball must be played as a single movement. You are not allowed to push the ball with the top or bottom of your foot. Your foot should be set separate from the ball, clearly behind, before each kick. 4.) Play the ball where it lies: You are not allowed to move the ball or remove jammed objects. EXCEPTION: You may mark the spot and lift the ball when it may obstruct the other player’s kick or ball in any way. 5.) The player farthest from the hole is first to kick the ball. 6.) The order of play is established based on score of the previous hole. The player with the best score will kick off first on the next hole followed by second, etc. 7.) If the ball lands in the water hazard, retrieve or replace it within two steps from the closest land point from where the ball entered the hazard. Player receives one stroke penalty or place the ball at the original position and add one stroke penalty. 8.) Review the scorecard and wait for your turn. Make sure your kick will not interfere with other players. 9.) Wear appropriate clothing (follow Base dress code). The rules of FootGolf largely correspond to the rules of golf. FootGolf uses golf’s basic model including tee boxes, greens, bunkers, hazards, and 9-holes or 18-holes of play. The sport is played with a soccer ball on a traditional golf course with 21-inch diameter cups, set to the side of the traditional greens, instead of the traditional 4.25-inch diameter cups. Scorecards display par scores for each hole, just as in regular golf.     SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVING PACE OF PLAY 1 SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVING PACE OF PLAY ON THE TEE Be early for your tee time. Proper pace of play begins with teeing off at the appointed time. Allow time for unloading your equipment, putting on your golf shoes, any desired practice or warm-up, purchasing any refreshments and driving your cart to the first tee. Play the right course for your ability level: Choose a set of tees with a rating of your handicap index. Or just tee it forward (Apply Legends Rule.) Establish a position on the course. If your round begins on a par 4, wait until the group ahead of you has gotten to the green before teeing off. If your round begins on a par 5, wait until the group ahead of you has hit their second shot and moved toward the green. On subsequent holes when waiting on the tee for the group in front to clear the fairway, don't be so strict about order of play. Let the short hitter - who can't reach the group ahead anyway - go ahead and hit. PLAY READY GOLF— Pick your line of play once and trust yourself. Hit when ready and safe regardless of who has the honors. Try to take no more than one practice swing, then set up to the ball and play your shot. Be ready to hit when it is your turn. Take 30 seconds, maximum, to hit your shot. Pay attention to your partners' drives. If they lose sight of the ball, you can help direct them to it and avoid any searching.

    Iowa Games FootGolf Tournament Rules 1.0 Player Code of Conduct A strict policy of appropriate behavior throughout the event, as well as appropriate comments to the media and through social media. Any conduct deemed to be unprofessional is subject to disciplinary action as highlighted below. Players are expected to behave in a sportsmanlike manner while competing in the event. Actions that are in violation of this conduct include but are not limited to: • Abusive or threatening behavior or language • Throwing or kicking the ball away in anger • Overt rudeness to anyone present • Willful and overt destruction, abuse or vandalism of property, including animal and plant life • Cheating; refer to FIFG Rulebook • Continual ignorance of etiquette on the course (See etiquette below) Activities which are in violation of any laws, course regulations or FootGolf course rules may result in disciplinary action. Tournament Director and/or Committee are granted the discretion to disqualify a player based on the severity of the offending conduct.
