Midfielder Ryan Decker had a terrific afternoon at Albany, scoring a goal on his only shot at- • tempt, adding an assist and leading the Raiders with five ground balls and two caused turnovers. The caused turnovers were a career high and the five ground balls matched his collegiate best. Colgate goalie Sean Collins just missed a career high with 17 saves against Robert Morris. The • junior posted 82 saves against stiff competition over six games last season. Brendan Jordan recorded his first career multigoal game, finishing with two goals and an assist • in the opener against Robert Morris. A more localized schedule focused on Patriot League competition for this season has the Raiders • facing three teams ranked among the nation’s top 20 in the early polls. Army is sixth and Lehigh 13th in the USILA Coaches Poll, while those two teams stand seventh and 13th, respectively, in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Albany is up to 18th in both polls. Brian Minicus is back as Colgate’s assist leader from a season ago and the junior picked up • right where he left off. Minicus scored a goal and assisted on four others in the opener against Robert Morris. An injury forced the junior middie to miss last weekend’s game at Albany. Colgate 2020 graduates Griffin Brown and Nicky Petkevich are • playing this season as graduated transfers. Brown is at Maryland and Petkevich at Georgetown. Those two Raiders combined for 30 goals of Colgate’s 70 goals and 14 assists of the team’s 44 assists in six games. The plan going into this season is four home games and five on the • road.     e TRINITY COLLEGE MARCHALUMNI NEWS 1948 ISSUE Bu lletz·n HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT r 25th Anniversary Trinity will divide its celebration of the 125th Anniversary between a weekend noting the founding of the College, May 15~ 16, and Commencement weekend, June 18~21, according to plans announced by President Funston. Major alumni events are scheduled for the Commencement weekend, details of which will be announced in the May issue of the Alumni News. President Charles Seymour of Yale will be the principal speaker at an academic convocation at 2:30p.m. on May 16, marking the 125th Anniversary of the chartering of the College by the State Legislature. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Chapel and restricted to invited guests, but if possible the exercises will be held in front of Northam Towers. Other participants will represent sister colleges, the State of Connecticut, the City of Hartford, the Episcopal Church, and alumni, students, and faculty of the College. By a coincidence in the calendar, the College's anniversary this year falls on Whitsunday, offering an unusual opportunity to note Trinity's contribution to Christian education. Three religious services have been scheduled in the Chap~! for the Anniversary Day: at 8:15 a.m., at 11 a.m., and at 5:30 p.m. The College will give a luncheon for delegates from other colleges and guests at 1 p.m. and President Funston will entertain at a reception in his house at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 15, will be Hartford Day with open house for area residents from 1 to 5 p.m.

THE COLLEGE of the HOLY CROSS A College of Arts and Sciences Worcester, Massachusetts 01610 CATALOGUE (The first forty pages of this Catalogue comprise the current Entrance Bulletin.) VOLUME 62 1965-66 History of the College In 1843 the Most Rev. Benedict Joseph Fenwick, Second Bishop of Boston, founded the College of the Holy Cross. He gave the College the name of his Cathe- dral with the motto and seal of the Boston Diocese. He entrusted the direction of the college to the Fathers of the Society of Jesus. Classes began on November 2, 1843, and in 1844 the first college building was erected to accommodate ninety students. However, with the exception of the east wing, this building was destroyed by fire on July 14, 1852. With the cooperation of the Bishop of Boston, Most Rev. John B. Fitzpatrick, the Fathers of the Society provided for the building of Fenwick Hall, and the college was reopened in October, 1853, with a newly-enrolled fresh- man class. The first graduation class of this new period was that of 1858.

    THE BASS DRUM JOURNAL March 2011 of THE HARVARD UNIVERSITY B AND Vol. 91 No. 1 ...AND THE BAND MARCHES ON When I think about it, it’s quite interesting to be in and around 74 Mt. Auburn Street during the fast-moving days of college. Bandies come and go through the Band room, bringing with them their varied backgrounds, ideas, and talents, and leaving with close friendships, creative, fun memories, and perhaps the most school spirit of any Harvard students. They arrange new music to keep our tunes fresh, dynamically changing the sound of the Band on a yearly basis. They build fantastically enormous props to woo the crowd and intimidate other bands. They write hilarious shows that would put Jay Leno to shame. They design new furniture, they take photos, they repair instruments. And of course, they do their ever-present schoolwork. So much of this annual cycle of the Band happens so quickly, year in and year out, that I wonder how often people stop to wonder about the Band and its history. To the casual observer, the well-run nature of the Band HE UN EVER ETS ON THE ARVARD NIVERSITY AND and the engrained nature of its traditions may T S N S H U B ! make it seem that the Band has always been THE BAND MARCHES DOWN MASS. AVE. BEFORE A FOOTBALL GAME. the way it is, and always will be. How glad She survived the reformation of the Band after she does speak. The resonant sound that fills I am that such is not the case! Having just WWII, attempts to rob the Harvard Band of Soldiers Field at home games is none other passed its 91st year, the Band is constantly her glory, several relocations as the Band room than a source of constancy and connection that changing and evolving, yet retaining moved, and, most recently, the flood of rings throughout the Band over generations.
