DAY IN THE LIFE OF A 1960’S CHILD One sunny Monday I woke up and went into my sister’s room to wake her up because we were late for school. In our school if you are late you get you get in big trouble we went downstairs to get our breakfast our mam had made us porridge. We got dressed I was wearing a t -shirt and a skirt. Then we headed on our long walk to school Before class I played marbles with my friend Mary. At 9 am the teacher shouted at us to come into class. We sat on our seats, class started off with English the teacher gave us words to spell, while I was doing my work I dropped a blob of ink on the sheet, I tried to cover it up before the teacher would notice, because I knew I would get a smack of the ruler. The teacher soon noticed as we had a small class – 8 pupils., and a smack I got. Lunch was at 12 pm I ate bread and jam, and had school milk to drink then I played my favourite game hop scotch After lunch we had history, and we learnt about the Great Famine, this was my favourite subject. School finished at 3pm, and my sister and I walked home. When we went home I had to do my chores bringing in the sticks and turf. Them we had dinner – potatoes bacon and cabbage I went to bed at 8pm and said my prayers BONO ROCK SINGER Born 10th May 1960, Paul David Newson in the Rotunda Hospital Dublin. Origin – Finglas Dublin. Attended Mount Temple Comprehensive school. Stage name Bono he is an Irish singer, song writer musician and businessman. Best know as the lead singer in Rock Band U2. Bono joined the band U2 in October 1976. He was the main frontman, Most Famous U 2 song The Joshua Tree. Music Groups U 2 Band Aid Passengers. Family Married Ali Hewson 1982 Two daughters - Jordon and Memphis Eve, Two Sons Elijah and John Abraham .

She works 75 hours a week. In Europe the average working week is 35–40 hours a week. Emilia earns $5 a day which is less than the minimum wage. She finds it difficult to buy enough food to eat. The minimum wage in the UK is £5 per hour. Emilia works 7 days a week and only gets time off a couple of times a year. ‘Another terrible thing is the production quotas. I have to make a certain number of pairs of jeans every day. So I work and sleep. Every day is like that.’ she says. So Emilia does overtime without being paid. She also cannot join a union. ‘Once, a group of workers went on strike to ask for better wages and a transport and food allowance. All of them were sacked.’ But it doesn’t have to be like that From Africa to America, companies and consumers are changing. The Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland, as the national association representing members across the surveying disciplines, has in recent years developed rapidly and reorganised into a vibrant professional body, with over 5,500 members, playing an active role in national development. Ireland has a long and notable history of surveying and measurement from the carefully aligned network of hill-top monuments constructed over 5,000 years ago, to the completion of the world’s first large-scale national mapping in the mid nineteenth century and, in the last decade, the National Seabed Survey that ranks amongst the largest marine mapping programmes undertaken anywhere in the world. Meanwhile, Ireland has one of the most open economies in the world and most of the major international IT companies have established bases in Ireland. At the same time, young Irish graduates can be found bringing their skills and enthusiasm to all corners of the world and, in many cases, returning home enriched professionally and culturally by their time abroad.

Thousands queued in inclement weather to pay their respects when she lay in public repose on two successive days. Traffic management plans were put in place. Books of condolences were filled and replaced by the council. The Taoiseach signed one of them. The President visited her family and tendered his sympathies. Today, that public phase ended. What happened next was not so much a funeral as an enfolding, with the small rural community of Ballybricken – where Dolores felt most at home and the place to which she always returned – coming together to sadly reclaim and bury of one of their own.

The Organic Cotton Round Table (OCRT) is a Platform for Collective Action and Incubator of Great Ideas. It brings us together to be inspired, mobilized, and equipped to act. The OCRT also serves as the official in-person meeting place of the online Global Organic Cotton Community Platform. Organic is a life choice; it’s not simply about a commodity and a market. We choose organic because we boldly want the best, not just “less bad”. We want to use the market – and business – to build a healthier, kinder, safer world for now and for the generations to come. Organic cotton tells a story. A story of health, ecology, fairness, and care. These are the principles of organic agriculture and they go way beyond cotton - to food, to farms, to families, to communities... We know clean water, fertile soils, and a rich biodiversity are the natural capital from which life on earth is sustained and that doing “business as if people mattered” is fundamentally what sustains us as communities. Without equality, peace, diversity and justice there is no way we can achieve a prosperous and thriving economy. We are not separate from nature - we are deeply embedded in it. Five years ago, some may have treated sustainability as an add-on to business - a “nice to have”.
