WINTER 2021 Donate to the CVI Professors Eldrin Lewis, David Maron, and Paul Wang, Recognized with Endowed Chairs Eldrin Lewis, MD, MPH, has been named the Simon H. Stertzer, MD Professor of Medicine. This endowed chair will support him in his role as Chief of Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. David Maron, MD, has been named the C.F. Rehnborg Professor of Medicine. This endowed chair will support him in his role as Chief, Stanford Prevention Research Center and Director, Preventive Cardiology. Paul Wang, MD, Professor of Medicine and of Bioengineering was awarded the John R. Singleton and Ai Giak L. Singleton Endowed Directorship. As co-director of the Stanford Center for Arrhythmia Research, the funding will support Wang’s commitment to developing new solutions and inventing technologies that improve arrhythmia care. Nazish Sayed, MD, PhD - New Assistant Professor of Surgery and the Cardiovascular Institute Dr. Sayed recently joined the Department of Surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery as Assistant Professor. Dr. Sayed’s research focuses on the development of novel technologies that drive innovation in regenerative medicine, disease modeling, and drug testing in vascular biology. He performs translational research in vascular biology and aims to understand the role of vasculature in cardiac diseases. His lab employs human induced pluripotent stem cell technology to generate patient-specific vascular cells. By employing this unique platform, his lab also investigates the role of anti-cancer drugs on vasculature. Dr. Sayed’s lab has also established an endothelial regeneration program.
