2018 Rowan Football Page 3 Rowan University Head Coach Jay Accorsi Jay Accorsi is in his 17th season as the head coach of the Rowan University football Accorsi Year-By-Year team. He is also in charge of the defensive unit. Year Won Lost 2002 10 1 Accorsi is the seventh coach for the sport at the University. Accorsi started with the 2003 7 3 Profs as a graduate assistant in 1993. He took over the head position in 2002 after nine 2004 10 3 years as an assistant coach. Accorsi has guided Rowan to seven appearances in the 2005 11 2 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, two trips to the national semifinals and 2006 9 3 seven New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) championships. His coaching record 2007 4 6 stands at 119-53. Accorsi is the all-time leader in coaching victories at Rowan. 2008 8 2 2009 7 3 Last season, Rowan recorded a 4-6 overall record. Dungee also received ECAC South Defensive Player of the Year and D3foot- ball.com All-America honors. In 2014, the Profs had a 7-4 record with a 6-1 NJAC mark. Rowan earned a share of the conference championship and received an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament. Accorsi was chosen the NJAC Co-Coach of Accolades 2002 NJAC Coach of the Year the Year and 15 players were named to the All-Conference team. 2006 NJAC Coach of the Year Rowan had a 9-3 overall record and a 6-1 conference mark in 2013. The Profs won a share of the NJAC title and received the 2013 NJAC Coach of the Year conference’s automatic bid to the national tournament. The football team defeated Endicott College, 24-0 in the first round. In 2014 NJAC Co-Coach of the Year 2012, Accorsi guided the Profs to a 7-3 overall record, 6-1 in the NJAC for a second place finish. Rowan was awarded an at-large bid into the NCAA Championships. In 2011, Rowan posted a 5-5 record with a 5-4 conference mark. NJAC Championships 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2013, 2014 In 2010, the Profs were 9-1 overall and 8-1 in the conference. Rowan earned a share of the NJAC title with Montclair State University and SUNY Cortland. Rowan posted a 7-3 record in 2009 and an 8-2 mark in 2008. In 2007, the Profs went 4-6. Rowan finished the season with a 9-3 record in 2006. In 2005, Rowan had an 11-2 mark. The Profs won the NJAC Championship and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Profs’ Coaching Records Championship Tournament for the second consecutive season. Accorsi was selected the NJAC Coach of the Year and received Yrs. Coach Record Pct. the Maxwell Football Club Tri-State Coach of the Year Award. The Profs finished the 2004 season with a 10-3 record and they 17 Jay Accorsi 119-53 .692 advanced to the semifinal game of the national tournament. The Profs had a record of 7-3 in 2003. The football team 17 Richard Wackar 65-84-4 .438 had a final record of 10-1 and Accorsi was selected the NJAC Coach of the Year. 5 John Bunting 38-14-2 .722 7 Ted Kershner 35-34 .507 Prior to Rowan, Accorsi was an assistant football and baseball coach at Nichols College in Dudley, MA from 1989-93. He oversaw 3 Nelio Dallolio 12-6-1 .658 the wide receivers and quarterbacks. In baseball, Accorsi coached the outfielders and infielders. At Nichols, Accorsi also assisted 1 Glenn Frey 1-3 .250 the athletic director and was a dorm director while working on his master's degree.

Accorsi graduated from Nichols College (MA) in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He earned a master's in sports science from the U.S. Sports Academy (Daphne, AL) in 1992 and a master's in business administration from Rowan in 1997.At Nichols, Accorsi was a running back for four years and was captain of the football team his senior year. A native of Somers, CT, Accorsi attended Somers High School and graduated in 1981. He lettered in football, wrestling and baseball.

He is a member of the AFCA, Maxwell Football Club and the New Jersey Football Coaches Association. He is on the South Jersey Chapter of the National Football Foundation committee. Accorsi served as a NCAA representative during the 2007 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. He is on the Adam Taliaferro Foundation Advisory Commit- tee and previously served on the NCAA Division III East Region Advisory Committee. Accorsi has served on the AFCA Program and Rules & Exhibits Committees in the past. He is also a voting member of the AFCA Division III Coaches Poll. Accorsi is the chair of the AFCA Division III All-America Team Selection Committee.

At Rowan, Accorsi has been an advisor for Delta Phi Epsilon sorority and served on the Campus Aesthetics and Environmental Concerns Committee. He has been involved with the Peer Referral Orientation and Staff (PROS) program and has represented the athletic department at freshman and transfer orientations. He has initiated and participated in several service programs at the University, including: Coach to Cure MD, Campus Clean and Green, Adopt-A-Family Thanksgiving Basket Program through the Aids Coalition of Southern New Jersey, Get in the Game. Save A Life. Bone Marrow Registry, Gloucester County Clean Communities Program, Town of Glassboro Clean Up Day and adopting the DeFillipo family through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.

Accorsi continually attends various high school and youth organization clinics and is a common presenter for a wide variety of clinics and organizations. He has been the guest speaker for the Dr. Warren J. McClain Memorial Touchdown Club of Southern New Jersey and the Brooks-Irvine Memorial Football Club. In addition, Accorsi has been a speaker at the South Jersey Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame/Adam Taliaferro Foundation All-Star Banquet.

Accorsi resides in Mullica Hill, NJ with his wife Nancy and daughters, Gabrielle and Rachel and son, Jack. 2018 Rowan Football Page 4 Widener University Head Coach Mike Kelly Mike Kelly is entering his fifth season as Widener’s head football coach. He brings more than Kelly Year-By-Year 30 years of coaching experience to the university. Year Won Lost 2014 12 1 The 2017 season saw several milestones for the Pride. Nine players achieved All-Conference honors for WU in 2017, including five First Team honor- ees, highlighted by the MAC Defensive Player of the Year in Jordan Powell. Powell and Casey Accolades Kerschner were named AFCA All-Americans, the first time in school history that Widener has 2014 MAC Coach of the Year had two players recognized by the AFCA in the same season. MAC Championships 2016 saw Kelly mentor his third straight winning season for Widener as the Pride finished 6-4 2014 and had 12 All-Conference performers. Kelly piloted WU to another winning campaign in 2015 while mentoring and producing many of the conference’s best players who excelled both on the field and in the classroom. This included a league-record six student-athletes who were named to the Academic All-Middle Atlantic Conference Team, four who earned Philadelphia NCAA Appearances Inquirer Academic All-Area honors and two who were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. 2014

The 2014 season was one for the recordbooks, as Kelly became the first coach in program history to finish his first regular season undefeated Pride Coaching (10-0). The previous unbeaten run was held by , who went 5-0-2 in 1913. Kelly improved the unbeaten mark by extending his Records winning streak to 12 straight games by earning two NCAA postseason victories before eventually falling in the “Elite Eight” to end the season Yrs. From 2006-07, Kelly was drawn back to the academic world in which he served as a professor of sport management at Drexel University. In this position, he served as an instructor for both undergraduate and graduate students in coaching and leadership. After his first year of teaching, he was recognized by Drexel with the “Make a Difference Award” for outstanding mentoring and teaching.

Kelly returned to the football sidelines as the receivers coach for the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos. He most notably mentored slot receiver Kamau Peterson, who was named the Most Outstand- ing Canadian Player after pulling in more than 100 receptions.

In 2009, Kelly returned to the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers as the head football coach. He managed the entire football operation in this role, including the $8.2 million budget, and saw five of his players sign as free agents with the NFL.

Kelly’s time in the CFL was followed by three years as the owner of ScoreMore Enterprises, where he was primarily a consultant to coaches for implementing coaching staff structure and his version of the spread offense. He also spent two years as the Vice President of Football Operations for ProSource Sports Management, signing three players in the first 95 selections and a free agent with the Carolina Panthers before returning again to coaching as the head coach of Widener University’s storied program.

Kelly played collegiately at Division III Bluffton University, where he was a three-year letterwinner and QB - who ranks third in the program annals for career completions and fifth in career passing yardage. He received a bachelor’s degree in health, physical education and recreation from Bluffton in 1980 and a master’s degree in secondary school administration from Edinboro in 1983. Kelly is also a member of the Bluffton Athletics Hall of Fame and the Delaware County (Ind.) Athletics Hall of Fame.
