Application Information

Application Deadline First semester or full academic year: May, 15 (Per Semester) Second Semester: November, 30 - Learning Agreement/ Training Agreement (filled in after Required documents contacting the Erasmus coordinator of the corresponding faculty - see list below) (sent by mail and by post) - Application Form (signed and sealed by the home university); - Transcript of Records of the courses completed at the home university.

2  The will inform the candidate of its decision as soon as possible after receiving the application. The confirmation of acceptance will be sent by the International Relations Office of UCv both to the home university and to the Acceptance candidate, by mail.  Hostel Reservation form and Registration form for the courses will be provided by the International Relations Office of UCv after acceptance.

In order to complete their administrative registration, students are required to submit the following documents to the International Administrative Registration Relations Office upon arrival: 1. A copy of the student's ID card/ Passport 2. A copy of the student's European Health Insurance Card or other Medical Insurance Certificate

3 Accommodation

The University of Craiova offers accommodation in 11 student hostels situated on four university campuses. All student hostels allow the students free access to internet and  On-campus: cable TV. Six out of the eleven hostels are completely renovated, offering double rooms provided with refrigerator, TV set and individual bathroom, as well as fully equipped kitchens and laundries, a reading room and a social hall located within the precincts of the hostel, for social activities. The price is approximately EUR 90 per person/ month.

Rented flats are an alternative for incoming students requesting high quality accommodation. Renting a flat can  Alternative Accommodation: provide comfort and privacy. The price is approximately EUR 200 per person (2 persons allowed) for a furnished flat with gas heating, located near the city centre and/or the faculty buildings of the University.

General Information

o International Airport Craiova (www.aeroportcraiova.ro) Nearest Airports: o “Henri Coanda” International Airport, Bucharest, Otopeni (www.otp-airport.ro); o Travel by train: Craiova is a major railway centre, connected to all the other major Romanian cities. The railway station is located in the North area of the city, from where you can take a bus or a taxi to the University. Students enjoy train fare reduction if they are in possession of a valid student ID card (issued by the faculty that accepts the Erasmus mobility, after concluding all the enrolment formalities). o Local public transport: Transportation The public transport in Craiova consists of 3 tram lines and 16 bus lines. One ticket costs around € 0.5. There is a 50% discount on standard fares of tram or bus monthly permits (unlimited travel pass on one line only) for holders of an enrolment certificate issued by the faculty that confirms the acceptance of the Erasmus mobility. Most buses run until 22.00 and trams until 23.30. o Taxi: Taxi services are relatively cheap and comfortable, amounting to €1- €2 (around €0.3/km).

4 o Local time: GMT + 2h o Currency The official Romanian currency is LEU (singular form), LEI (plural form) (LEU/LEI, RON). Coins: BANI 5, 10, 50. 1 LEU = 100 BANI. Bank notes: LEI 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, 200, 500. Exchange rate: 1 EUR = approx. 4.5 LEI. o Climate: Useful Information: Romania has a climate which ranges from temperate to continental. Summers are generally very warm to hot, with average maxima in Bucharest being around 29 °C (84.2 °F), with temperatures over 35 °C (95 °F). Winters are quite cold, with average highs even in lower-lying areas being no more than 3 °C (37.4 °F). Precipitation is generally modest, averaging over 750 mm (29.5 in) only on the highest western mountains - much of it falling as snow which allows for an extensive skiing industry.
