The conference is an opportunity for students to interact with state policy experts, network with other students interested in public policy, and discuss: California's government, economy, and demographics. The state's legislative and budget processes. Current issues in state policy, with opportunities for attendees to focus on: K-12 education, higher education, and labor. Health, human services, and corrections and rehabilitation. The environment, natural resources, and transportation. Careers in California state government. In addition, as part of the program, students will be matched with current Department of Finance budget staff for conversations about the department's work. Students are invited to register for the conference at http://www.dof.ca.gov/Programs/policy_conference/index.html/. The conference is free to attend. However, space is limited, and registration will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage you to register as soon as possible. Attorney General Honors Program The online application for the Attorney General's Honors Program (HP) and Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP) opened on July 31, 2017. The HP is the largest and most prestigious federal entry-level attorney hiring program of its kind and the SLIP is the Department's competitive recruitment program for compensated summer internships. The deadline for law students and eligible graduates to apply to these programs is Tuesday, September 5, 2017. It is a great place to land a summer internship (Class of 2019) or a post-grad job (Class of 2018). In addition to the career fair, students take part in inspiring conference workshop sessions including this year's conversation with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday afternoon.
