Julien Carles P ainting, drawing and stuff... „ Mein Name ist Julien Carles und ich bin Künstler sowie Grafikdesigner aus Frankreich. Nach meinem Studium in Kunst und Grafikdesign, arbeitete ich 10 Jahre als selbstständiger Grafikdesigner. Die Kunst gehörte dabei immer zu meiner Arbeit und meinem Leben dazu. Mittlerweile wohne ich nicht mehr in Frankreich sondern in Hamburg und fokussiere mich nun vermehrt auf meine Kunst. Nach der ersten Ausstellung in Hamburg geht es nun nach Berlin. In meinen Bildern geht es darum, verschiedene Charaktere und Rollen, die jeder Mensch in sich trägt, © Julien Carles aufzuzeigen und diese teilweise auch kontrastiv gegenüberzustellen. Ich behandele damit Fragen wie: Was will ich gern von mir präsentieren? Was darf man nicht von sich preisgeben? Welche Rollen sind vo n der Gesellschaft gefordert? Was wäre ich geworden, wenn ich in einer anderen Kultur oder in einer anderen Zeit geboren worden wäre?“ sagt Julien Carles über sich s e l b s t . w w w . j u l i e n - c a r l e s . c o m © Julien Carles H a n n a h i n t h e W a r s © Hannah in the Wars Songwriter Hannah Curwood originates from the stark, remote region of Central Otago in New Zealand. Now based in London, Hannah in the Wars is a new project, the result of working alongside Roger O’Donnell of The Cure and a handpicked group of musicians. This eponymous debut album showcases a collection of lyrically robust emotional narratives. Curwood’s distinctive and powerful vocals are accompanied by Telecaster, piano, synth, delicate string arrangements and the brooding pulse of an orchestral percussionist. O’Donnell has supported the band by providing his country home studio as a recording base, and lending guidance with vocal performance, a r r a n gements and his expertise in synth programming. The resulting ten songs evoke the likes of Hope Sandoval, P J Harvey, Anna Calvi, Sharon Van Etten, Laura Marling and Smog – d e l i c a c y entangled with intensity. The album was mixed by Paul Corkett (The Cure, Nick Cave, Bjork) and will be released via O’Donnell’s 99X/10 label on May 25th 2015.
