Kurland of Certilman Balin plays goalie for U.S. Master Men’s Hockey Team at 20­th World August 01, 2017 - Long Island

East Meadow, NY Jason Kurland, partner in Certilman Balin’s real estate group and also known as the “Lottery Lawyer,” played goalie for the Masters Men’s Ice Hockey Team at the 20th World Maccabiah Games held at the 10,000-seat Pais Arena in Jerusalem, Israel from July 5th until July 14th.

The United States team won the bronze medal. won the gold; Canada, the silver. In addition to his bronze medal, Kurland (#33) was named MVP for his performance in the game against the Ukraine. The tournament was full of ex-professionals, including a number of NHL players.

Kurland said, “Israel is an amazing country, and the entire two weeks was an experience of a lifetime.”

Kurland played goalie at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York and graduated in 1996. He trained for months prior to the games, skating with his teammates in Boston and Chicago. He resides in Dix Hills with his wife and three children.

Since 1932, over 62,000 athletes have participated in the Maccabiah Games. Kurland is used to being around winners. As the “Lottery Lawyer,” he has represented some of the largest winners in the United States including Powerball jackpot winners in the states of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Delaware.
