He also served as an assistant at Sierra College in 2001, where the Wolverines made the playoffs for the fi rst time in 17 years. Acosta’s playing career began at Gavilan College in Gilroy where he played one season as a middle infi elder. He played his sophomore season at Santa Clara’s Mission College before joining the Aggies. Acosta graduated from UC Davis in 1996, then earned his master’s degree in education from Chapman University in 2001. He and his wife, Karen, were married on New Years’ Eve of 1998, the same day as Matt and Dana Vaughn. They have three children, Brendon (9), Makyla (5) and Caden (3).
