Hansen at Raidillon and the race directors decided to red flag the race. Victory for Carlos Sainz Jr.followed by Will Stevens and Robin Frijns.

00 :02 :15 ITW Carlos Sainz (in spanish) The season starts very well… It couldn’t be better ! But we also know that the season is still very long, and that I have to progress step by step little by little…

00 :02 :46 Feature « My Career » : Stoffel Vandoorne

Stoffel Vandoorne is without a doubt one of the most promissing drivers of his generation, and he is belgian… After starting his career in go kart, on a home build machine designed by his father, the young boy was KF2 class belgian champion, second in the world cup the following year… The « Royal Automobile Club de Belgique » offered him the opportunity of a career in motorsport…

00 :03 : 11 ITW Stoffel Vandoorne (in French) We participated to the RACB selections, actually it was just to, at least, drive once a single seater car, and we won it ! So I was given the opportunity to drive in the F4 Eurocup 1.6 Renault, that was last season, and everything went well, I won the championship, and now I’m in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. Starting the season in Motorland was difficult, we had some issues with the car, and a lot of bad luck, because during the first race we had a big crash, and somebody hit my car so the race finished there… And in the second race, I had to retire because of an electronic failure, I was really a bad week-end for me…

00 :03 : 57 This kind of situation and the way to turn it into a positive input makes the difference between the good and the best… This… and a very good belgian team managed by Kurt Molekens… And waving proudly the belgian flag…

00 :04 : 11 ITW Kurt Molekens (in French) It is very important for us and it doesn’t happen every season. So we have to take this opportunity of training a good generation of belgian drivers, Vandoorne, D’ambrosion who enterd F1 this year, 3 or 4 very good drivers in single seater classes in belgium and Stoffle is one of them… I don’t know who will be the next, coming out from go-kart… I follow all the races but I don’t see anybody coming at the moment. After Stoffel we will maybe have to wait again 3, 4 or 5 years to have such a good belgian driver… He has the best chances to go on top, and we will try to help him the best we can for his step up from Formula 4 to Formula Renault 2.0…

00 :04:50 Of course in Spa Francorchamps, KTR and his belgian driver Stoffel Vandoorne are at the center of all the expectations. Even if the young gun has a lot to learn, he has great expectations for his home event…

00 :05 : 01 ITW Stoffel Vandoorne (in French) That will be a very good championship, the global level is very high, and here we are in the second meeting of the Eurocup, I really want to do well here in Spa in front of my home crowd, and I hope at least a podium finish this week-end… Of course I would like it to be as good as last year, when I won the F4 Race, it is always a good thing to win your home race… But it is not a source of extra-pressure for me… It’s a normal race, like the others…I’ll try to do my best…

00 : 07 : 47 succumbs a few laps further on to a sustained attack from BVM Target who now holds 8th place. Suffering from mechanical difficulties, Ricciardo soon found himself overtaken by Gravity-Charouz’s Jan Charouz.

00 : 07 : 52 While all is calm up front, the battle for third continues to rage between Costa, Panciatici and Brendon Hartley. On the final lap Hartley finds the opening he was looking for and overtakes Panciatici for fourth place.

00 : 08 : 04 For Wickens the race appeared to be a walk in the park, finishing ahead teammate Jean-Éric Vergne. Albert Costa, trailing the Carlin camp by some distance, completed the podium. In seventh, was the best Rookie, however the American loses his championship lead to the victor of the day.

00 : 08: 34 ITW Robert Wickens (in English) From the opening lap I had a 1 second lead, and it basically staid one second for the entire race… So, it was fantastic, it’s good for Carlin who makes a one- two, I think we take the lead of the team’s championship as well as the driver’s championship.

00 : 08 : 59 Feature « Team Life » : Team Carlin

One of the most successful single-seater teams outside F1, Carlin has won over 185 races, claimed six British F3 championships and the 2010 Formula Renault 3.5 drivers’ title. Over 175 drivers have passed through the doors of the team, including Kimi Raikkonen, , or . This year, the team races under the colors of Red Bull with the French Jean-Eric Vergne …

00 : 09 : 16 ITW Jean Eric Vergne (in French) It is avery successful team in the World Series… They won the title in 2010 with Aleshin, thay had a lot of great driver like Vettel or Alguersuari… It is also a good thing for me to continue with the same people since I won the British F3 Championship with them last season… So it is a good thing to stay with the same basis stepping up into the 3.5 Series… I work with the same engineer, so it is really a good thing for me…

00 : 09 : 46 Along with Vergne, second of the championship after Motorland, the Canadian Robert Wickens is the other driver of the 2011 Team… Following him, looking at the wall of fame of the team, Carlin was the best choice for his comeback in the World Series…

00 : 10 : 04 ITW Robert Wickens (in English) Carlin is the best team on the grid in my opinion, they won the driver’s championship last year, so, there’s no reason why not to go with them… You definetly have the most fun with Carlin, they treat you like a family, when you do something bad, they let you know but they definetly also let you know when you do a good job, so, it’s a nice experience, it’s a nice vibe and atmosphere in the team, and basically we just have a lot of fun…

00 : 10 : 31 With a very experienced team like this one, there is only place for efficiency and reliability… At this level, in one of the most performing series in the world at its best level…. But what makes the difference ?

00 : 10 : 47 ITW Ricky Taylor – Carlin Team Manager (in English) I think, you know, from the outside, for drivers, you can always sort of, look at teams, and think, not only about their successes but also see how they actually operate, you know because sometimes you can see a lot of people running around and it doesn’t necessary mean that the job’s being done… So we try to keep everything calm, professional, it’s all about communication and hopefully it’s just successful…

00 : 11 : 17 Carlin is again in a good position in the championship, even if Vergne was unlucky at Motorland, Wickens, with a podium and a top 5 finishes in Spain stands in second position in the classification. Once again the team is ready for a new story…

00 :11 : 33 ITW Trevor Carlin (in English) It’s very early, we can’t really think of the championship at the moment… We’re just thinking of race wins…We wanna get more trophies for the office… But yeah, the title is a long way away yet… It’ just hard work, having fantastic engineers and of course the most important bit : the best drivers…

00 : 11 : 50 And that is already a success story with a one-two finish in the first race of the week-end…

Vergne makes the perfect start when the lights went. Robert Wickens, third on the grid, is quick to put pressure on Daniel Zampieri. The Canadian driver soon finds the opening and moves up to second. At the end of lap 1, Vergne leads from Robert Wickens, Daniel Zampieri, Chris Van der Drift and Daniel Ricciardo (ISR).

00 :12 : 22 Jean-Éric Vergne increases the pace before the compulsory pit stops but his team mate made the pit stop decisive! Getting away quicker than his him, he took control of the race, pushing hard for several laps to pull away from Vergne.

00 :12 : 34 Jean-Éric Vergne isn’t for laying down arms and towards the end of the race he catches up the lost ground on leader Robert Wickens. He makes the decisive attack in Les Combes. Both drivers brake late, but Vergne makes the winning overtake manoeuvre to take control of the race on lap 17.

00 :13 :35 Feature : Formula 1 ABC : From Virtual to real F1 driving with Bruno Senna…

On the legendary circuit of Spa Francorchamps, his name sounds like a dream and his presence rises passion from the fans. Bruno Senna was there, to drive for the very first time a Formula 1 on the belgian track… But we decided to test him on a video game, with his Lotus Renault GP car… Just to know if the virtual world is as good as the real one…

Renault Sport Technologies Tél. : +33 (0)1 76 82 82 00 Z.A. Courtaboeuf Fax. : 33 (0)1 76 82 83 75 14, avenue des Tropiques Internet : www.renault- 91 978 Courtaboeuf Cedex - France sport.com

00 : 13 : 55 ITW Bruno Senna (in english) Specialy for the test drivers, if you can run the simulator before a race, you can help the team to prepare in terms of strategy, in terms of car set-up… Some simulators are so precise that you can set the car up before the race with it… You can develop the car in the simulator and it’s very good… It can help the driver to prepare, for the racing as well, or qualifying… You just get into the groove for the race week-end and that leaves you an edge…

00 : 14 : 28 Of course here, we don’t talk about a very sophisticated simulator… But can a good video game get close to real sensations of speed ? And can an actual driver help a motorsport fan to improve in the virtual world ? Let’s see with Bruno coaching his new official (and virtual) F1 driver…

00 : 14 : 44 Atmosphere B.Senna Let’s see how you do in the start, hein !

00 : 14 : 51 Atmosphere B.Senna Stay close, stay close, (laughs…) on the outside of eau rouge… That’s brave !

00 : 15 : 00 But bravery is also very « virtual »

00 : 15 : 04 ITW Bruno Senna (in english) Of course, in the game everybody is much more brave than in the real life… But that’s the fun of games : you can make mistakes, you can learn without risking you life !

00 : 15 : 15 Atmosphere B. Senna Stay in touch to him and you get the slipstream !

00 : 15 : 18 Oh ! Good move !

00 : 15 : 28 (Laugh) You can always push them a little bit… It’s Ok ! (Laugh)

00 : 15 : 37 Atmosphere B. Senna For eau rouge enter in a little bit earlier… And then you can carry much speed

Q : Is he good ?

00 : 15 : 48 Bruno Senna : Yes ! He is pretty good ! He knows the circuit, obviously ! He needed more agression in the first lap, you know ! Formula 1 is like that, you know, you have to bang wheels a little bit !

00 : 16 : 12 Stand up Bruno Senna (in english) Well ! That was the virtual car, the simulator… Soon you’ll see the real thing on the track !

00 : 16 : 19 With the Lotus Renault GP Team, Bruno gave a superb show to the belgian fans around Spa Francorchamps very demanding track… Of course the colors of his helmet and his car reminded a lot to the ones who were already following Formula 1 in the mid heighties… And a lot of others…

A lot of people call him « Jeannot » even those who don’t know him personnaly… But we should all at least call him « Sir » because this small man is a Master, and oustanding driver. At 63 years old, Jean Ragnotti is still unpredictible, funny and popular !

00 : 17 : 13 ITW Jean Ragnotti (in French) I always had the chance that people like me,the fans, the journalists, because it is easy for me to talk with anybody.Since I always had a reputation to be quite generous behind the wheel, not only when I talk ! So people like me in general wherever I go … Recently I went to Japan to make an exhibition and it was the same, people were very happy !

00 : 17 : 40 Why could people be unhappy ! Seing Jean driving the famous R5 Turbo sideways all around the track is a pure pleasure ! As it was some years ago in the stages… Actually with some differences…

00 : 17 : 59 ITW Jean Ragnotti (in French) Now I can lose a lot of time ! I have a lot of fun and the audience too ! So everybody is happy ! When I was rallying I had to put a limit to the show, because I was running against the clock ! But nowaday I can do what I want !

00 : 18 : 16 Drink or drive ! Jean chose ! He drives very fast and always sliding even when it’s straight. He drifts with his 30 year old car which proved to be very reliable over the years…

00 : 18 : 36 ITW Jean Ragnotti (in French) Since we started in the World Series, we used this car… If sometimes she needs some service, we use another one, which used to be driven by François Chatriot… But it happened once or twice in the last seven years… The most impressive is the gearbox and the transmissions… When I spin it’s in 4 th or 5th gear, so it’s very demanding to this old car. But she is very solid and reliable and I get used to this and I think it will continue for years. And if someday she is a little weak, we will excuse her because she gave us a lot !
