The French city of Toulouse hosted the 30th edition of Cartoon Forum, the co-production platform for European animation series that has fast-tracked European animation to the front row. Since the beginning, 786 projects have been funded for a total amount of €2.7 billion. During this edition, many professionals were present to cheer the promising animation projects. Premium quality According to buyers, this edition was surprising in terms of projects’ quality with a great diversity of genres, content, graphics and audience. The overall level of quality is increasing continuously. The new generation is now well established and showed us its energy, commitments and strong personality. 85 projects from 24 countries have been presented to participants from 39 countries which included a record of more than 1000 producers, investors, buyers, new platforms such as Netflix, WarnerMedia, Playkids or Hopster TV, among others. France was once again very present in the top 10 presentations that have aroused keen interest: "Mousse and Bichon" (Vivement Lundi !), "Lucy Lost" (Xilam Animation), "Ewilan's Quest" (Andarta Pictures), "Digital Girl" (Cyber Group Studios), "Calamity" (Maybe Movies), "We are Family" (TeamTO) and "Belfort & Lupin" (Ellipsanime Productions). France stays the European leader, especially with fast financial packages and also thanks to the important role of France Télévisions. On the strength of its seven selected projects this year, animation from Wallonia-Brussels appeared as a constant thread throughout Cartoon Forum with presentations of studios from the region during Croissant Shows. Wallonia- Brussels is the Southern part of Belgium, a small region inside a small country at the center of a big Europe. They are a little neighbour but a great partner with a huge heritage (The Smurfs, Asterix and Obelix, Tintin, …). In short, they are the "Little Giants of Animation". The participants were very impressed by their talent and their presentation video made the audience laugh in unison. Out of the seven selected projects from Wallonia-Brussels Region, two were particularly successful: "Juliette & Jules" (Altitude 100 Production) and "The Marsupilamis" (Belvision).
